Photo Contest Official Rules & Forms
Sponsor is Inglewood Park Cemetery - 720 E. Florence Avenue, Inglewood, CA 90301, referred hereinafter as “IPC”
The 2020 “Soul of the City of Angels” Photo Contest (the "Contest") begins September 15, 2020 and ends November 30, 2020. ALL ENTRIES MUST BE RECEIVED BY NOVEMBER 30 BY MIDNIGHT PST. Information on how to enter and prizes form part of these official rules (“Official Rules”).
By submitting an entry, each entrant agrees to the Official Rules and warrants that his or her entry complies with all requirements set out in the Official Rules. This is a talent-based contest and chance plays no part in the determination of winners.
WHO MAY ENTER
Contest is open to individuals over the age of 18. It is open to students, amateurs, enthusiasts and professionals. Employees and contractors of IPC and their immediate family members are ineligible to participate. Limit three entries per category per person.
HOW TO ENTER
There is no purchase necessary. Each Entry consists of an upload of the entry photo to the IPC Facebook page* (including the title of the photograph, the entry category, and your name so we can reach you) along with a completed entry form that must be mailed in to IPC with a printed copy of your image. The entry form is found at the end of this document.
Our Facebook page is: www.facebook.com/InglewoodParkCemeteryCA.* Your submission will be reviewed by our staff prior to posting online. This may take 24 - 48 hours after submission. When posted, please encourage your Facebook friends and family to "Like" the photograph as this will be part of the popularity portion of the judging criteria.
* It is not mandatory that you have a Facebook account to enter; you may also enter directly at IPC-PhotoContest.com and we will post it on Facebook. However, your opportunity to get more Facebook votes is greatly increased by your having your own Facebook account to promote the photo once it has been posted.
The Categories for entries are: (1) Pure Photography – employing the art of color or black & white photography with minimal obvious post-processing or special effects. (2) Creative Eye – allowing greater freedom of creative expression without limitations. Special effects, significant retouching, photocollage and other creative tools are acceptable in this category.
Limit of three entries per person per category. Each entry must comply with the following requirements (the "Photograph Requirements"):
• For Facebook or online uploads, it is recommended that you use the highest resolution image possible, but no larger than 2-3 megabytes. A JPG image of around 8” x 10” at 100 dpi is a good size.
• Additionally, each entry must be printed in any size up to 8½” x11” along with an official entry form and mailed or delivered to: City of Angels Photo Contest, c/o Inglewood Park Cemetery, 720 E. Florence Avenue, Inglewood, CA 90301. The quality of the print will not impact on the judging as it is only for identification. Printed photographs will not be returned.
• The photograph, in its entirety, must be a single work of original material taken by the Contest entrant. By entering the Contest, entrant acknowledges that the submitted photograph is an original work created solely by the entrant, that it does not infringe on the copyrights, trademarks, rights of privacy/publicity or intellectual property rights of any person or entity, and that no other party has any right, title, claim or interest in the photograph.
• The photograph must not, in the opinion of the Sponsor, contain obscene, provocative, defamatory, sexually explicit, or otherwise objectionable or inappropriate content. Nudity of any kind is not permitted.
• The entries will be judged in accordance with the Judging Criteria, as defined below. All entries must be submitted and received by midnight, November 30, 2020.
In consideration for entering the Contest, you agree to ASSUME ALL RISKS associated with entrance in the Contest, including authorizations, releases, acceptance, possession, use or misuse of the prize, participation in any Contest-related activity, and agree to hold harmless, release, defend and indemnify Sponsor and their parent and affiliated companies, and their respective subsidiaries, parents, affiliates, agents, employees, representatives, assignees, directors, members, officers, managers and shareholders (each a “Released Party”) from all liabilities, litigation and/or claims for injury or death to persons or damage to property arising from acceptance, possession, use or misuse of the prize, participation in any Contest-related activity, or participation in the Contest.
You represent and warrant that You have obtained the appropriate licenses, permissions, and/or releases from any people that recognizably appear in the Photographs that you submit. If your photograph contains images that depict a child that is under the age of majority in their state of residence, You represent that You have written permission from the minor’s parent or guardian to provide the photographic image for commercial use.
Entrant expressly authorizes IPC and its licensees (“Authorized Parties”) to reproduce, distribute, display and create derivative works of the entry in connection with the Contest, the promotion of the Contest, or its own marketing, in any media now or hereafter known.
First Prize in Each Category: $500
Second Prize in Each Category: $250
Third Prize in Each Category: $100
Judging consists of two phases of evaluation. The first phase is a popular vote as presented by online votes of each entry on IPC‘s Facebook page. The top ten (10) entries in each category, based on popular votes, will be evaluated by a panel of three Judges for the selection of the final awards. Criteria will be Creativity, Photographic Quality, and Category Relevance.
Winners will be chosen on or about December 5, 2020 and will be notified by e-mail. Decisions of the Judges are final and binding.
By entering the Contest, entrant grants an irrevocable, perpetual, worldwide non-exclusive license to the Sponsor and its Authorized Parties to reproduce, distribute, display and create derivative works of the entries (along with a name credit) in connection with the Contest and promotion of the Contest, or itself, in any media now or hereafter known, including, but not limited to: Display at a potential exhibition of winners; publication of a calendar or other literature featuring select entries in the Contest; and publication in online and print advertising by IPC. Wherever possible or appropriate, photographer’s name credit will be included, as determined by the Sponsor and its marketing agencies.
Display or publication of any entry on a Sponsor’s or Authorized Party’s website does not indicate the entrant will be selected as a winner. Neither the Sponsor nor its Authorized Parties will be required to pay any additional consideration or seek any additional approval in connection with such use. Additionally, by entering, each entrant grants to Sponsor and its Authorized Parties the unrestricted right to use all statements made in connection with the Contest, and names, pictures or likenesses of Contest entrants, or choose not to do so, at their sole discretion. Sponsor and its Authorized Parties will not be required to pay any additional consideration or seek any additional approval in connection with such use.
LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
By entering this Contest, all entrants agree to release, discharge, and hold harmless Inglewood Park Cemetery and its partners, affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising agencies, agents, and their employees, officers, directors, and representatives from any claims, losses, and damages arising out of their participation in this Contest or any Contest-related activities and the acceptance and use, misuse, or possession of any prize awarded hereunder.
IPC assumes no responsibility for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, or delay in operation or transmission; communications line failure; theft or destruction of or unauthorized access to Contest entries or entry forms; or alteration of entries or entry forms. IPC is not responsible for any problems with or technical malfunction of any telephone network or lines, computer online systems, servers or providers, computer equipment, software, failure of any e-mail entry to be received on account of technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any website, human errors of any kind, or any combination thereof, including any injury or damage to entrants' or any other persons' computers related to or resulting from participation, uploading or downloading of any materials related to in this Contest.
While on the grounds of IPC, the entrant is required to comply with restrictions related to the Coronavirus pandemic: Face coverings must be worn at all times and social distancing is mandatory. IPC assumes no responsibility for the transmission of disease to contest participants, their friends and family. Participation is at the entrant’s own risk.
THIS CONTEST IS VOID WHERE PROHIBITED. Entrants agree that this Contest shall be subject to and governed by the laws of Los Angeles County, State of California, and the forum for any dispute shall be in Los Angeles County. Entries void if the Sponsor determines the photograph to not be an original, required model releases are not provided, or if the entries are illegible, incomplete, damaged, irregular, altered, counterfeit, produced in error or obtained through fraud or theft.
By entering, entrants also agree (a) to be bound by these Official Rules; (b) that the decisions of the Judges are final and binding with respect to all matters relating to the Contest; and (c) if the entrant wins, that Sponsor may use the winning photographs and each winner’s name, photograph, likeness, and/or voice in any publicity or advertising relating to the Contest or future promotions without compensation or approval (except where prohibited by law). All federal, state and local taxes on prizes are the sole responsibility of the prize winners. In the event that the selected winner(s) of any prize is/are ineligible, cannot be traced or do not respond within 10 days to a winner notification as required by the “Contest Prizes” Rules above, or refuses the prize, the prize will be forfeited and Sponsor, in its sole discretion, may choose whether to award the prize to another entrant.
The Sponsor reserves the right to verify the validity and originality of any entry and/or entrant (including an entrant’s identity and address) and to disqualify any entrant who submits an entry that is not in accordance with these Official Rules or who tampers with the entry process. Failure by the Sponsor to enforce any of its rights at any stage does not constitute a waiver of those rights.
RIGHT TO CANCEL OR SUSPEND CONTEST
If for any reason the Contest is not capable of running as planned, Sponsor will not retain any rights in the submitted photographs.
Winners' names will be available online at www.IPC-PhotoContest.com and on our Facebook page on or before December 15, 2020.
Entrants agree that personal data, especially name and address, may be processed, shared and otherwise used for the purposes and within the context of the Contest and any other purposes outlined in these Official Rules. The data may also be used by the Sponsor in order to verify the participant’s identity, postal address and telephone number or to otherwise verify the participant’s eligibility to participate in the Contest. Participants have the right to access, review, rectify or cancel any personal data held by Sponsor by writing to City of Angels Photo Contest, c/o Inglewood Park Cemetery, 720 E. Florence Avenue, Inglewood, CA 90301. Personal data will be used by Sponsor and its affiliates exclusively for the purposes stated herein.
