ABC7 CHICAGO’S SPRING TRAINING GETAWAY SWEEPSTAKES

OFFICIAL RULES

I.  NAME OF SPONSOR(S)

WLS Television, Inc., 190 N. State Street, Chicago, IL 60601  (“WLS-TV” or “ABC7”) (Hereinafter collectively referred to as “Sponsor”).

II.  ELIGIBILITY 

Open only to legal U.S. who are 18 years of age or older at the time of entry, AS OF THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 15, 2018 and must reside in the WLS-TV “Designated Market Area” as determined by Nielsen Media Research Services are eligible to enter.  This area covers the following counties in the states of Illinois, Indiana and Wisconsin: in Illinois - Lake, McHenry, DeKalb, Kane DuPage, Cook, Kendall, Will Grundy, Kankakee, La Salle; in Indiana - Lake, Porter, La Porte, Newton, Jasper; and in Wisconsin - Kenosha, Walworth, Racine.

Any individuals (including but not limited to employees, consultants, independent contractors, and interns) who have, within the past six months, performed services for WLS Television, Inc., any organizations responsible for sponsoring, fulfilling, administering, advertising or promoting the sweepstakes or supplying the prize, and/or their respective parent, subsidiary, affiliated and successor companies, and immediate family and household members of such individuals, are not eligible to enter or play.  "Immediate family members" shall mean parents, step-parents, children, step-children, siblings, step-siblings, or spouses.  "Household members" shall mean people who share the same residence at least three months a year, whether related or not. Potential winner may be required to provide proof of eligibility prior to prize award. Subject to all applicable federal, state, local, and municipal laws and regulations. Potential Winner and guest must be able to travel on dates specified by Sponsor.

III.  HOW AND WHEN TO ENTER

NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. 

Sweepstakes begins on THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 15, 2018 at 12:01AM Central Time (CT) and ends on 11:00PM  CT MONDAY, NOVEMBER 19, 2018 (“Sweepstakes Period”).

During the Sweepstakes Period, the ABC7 Chicago mobile app will feature ads specific to the sweepstakes. Users will tap on the ad which will redirect them to the sweepstakes entry page via https://woobox.com/7vzn88. The ABC7 Chicago mobile app is available on Google Play for Android and the App Store for Apple® devices. Download and use of the ABC7 Chicago Application requires a mobile device and therefore message and data rates may apply. Consult your carrier.

To enter via Mobile App: 

Entrants must first download the free ABC7 Chicago mobile app.  iOS users can use the following link to download the app: http://tinyurl.com/ABC7iOSapp. Android users can use the following link to download the app: http://tinyurl.com/ABC7AndroidApp.  Entrants must then open the mobile app and look for the “Enter for a chance to win a Spring Training Getaway” sweepstakes graphic on the main page.  Tapping on the graphic will take the entrant to the entry page.  Entrants will be required to submit a first and last name, contact phone number, and a valid email address.

Entrants must go to the ABC7 Chicago web site (http://www.ABC7Chicago.com), click on the “Promotions” graphic and scroll down to the “Enter for a chance to win a Spring Training Getaway” Sweepstakes information to click the official entry link: https://woobox.com/7vzn88. Entrants will be required to submit a first and last name, contact phone number and a valid email address.    

Limit one (1) Entry per person/email address per day during promotion period. Entries remain the property of Sponsor and will not be returned sor acknowledged. 

During the entry process, you may be asked to consent to receive promotional and marketing emails from ABC, ESPN and/or other members of the Walt Disney family of companies or prize suppliers.  Consenting to receive promotional, marketing or reminder emails is optional, does not have to be agreed to in order to be eligible to enter the Sweepstakes and does not improve your chances of winning.  In the event you do consent to receive these emails, the use of such emails shall be subject to ABC’s Privacy Policy, available at www.disneyprivacycenter.com.  During the entry process, you may be asked to “like” Sponsor’s Facebook page.  Consenting to “like” Sponsor’s Facebook page is optional and does not improve your chances of winning.

Sponsor can provide no technical support and accepts no responsibility for insuring the receipt or successful submission of your entry.  Mass entries or entries generated by a script, macro or use of automated methods will be disqualified.  Sponsor is not responsible for failed, partial or garbled computer transmissions, or for technical failures of any kind, including but not limited to electronic malfunction or damage of any network, hardware or software.  If for any reason the sweepstakes is not capable of running as planned, including infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures, or other causes that corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of the sweepstakes, Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to disqualify any individual who tampers with the entry process, and to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the sweepstakes.  No responsibility is assumed for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line failure, theft or destruction or unauthorized access to, or alteration of, entries; or any problems or technical malfunctions of any telephone network or lines, computer online systems, servers, or providers, computer equipment, software, failure of any e-mail or electronic entry to be received on account of technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any Web-site, or any combination thereof, including any injury or damage to entrant’s or any other person’s computer related to or resulting from participation in or downloading any materials from this sweepstakes.  In the event of a dispute over an electronic entry, prize will be awarded to the owner of the e-mail account, not the name on the entry form.  Except as otherwise contemplated by these Rules, and to the extent entrants may otherwise elect at the time of entry, information provided by you for these Sweepstakes is subject to Sponsor’s Privacy Policy located at https://disneyprivacycenter.com/privacy-policy-translations/english

IV.  HOW AND WHEN WINNERS WILL BE SELECTED AND NOTIFIED 

One (1) Grand Prize Winner will be selected at random from all the eligible entries received during the Sweepstakes Period. A random drawing will be conducted by the Sponsor and a potential winner (“Winner”) will be selected on or around Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at 10:00am from all valid entries.

Winners will be notified by telephone and/or email on or around 11:30AM CT, Tuesday, November 20, 2018.    

If contact with winner is not made within 96 hours, the winner will be disqualified and an alternate will be selected from the remaining valid entries from the same entry pool.  Prize Winners’ signed release form and W9 Federal Tax Form must be returned to WLS no later than 12:00PM CT, November 30, 2018 or Prize Winner will forfeit prize.

Failure to timely comply with any requirement of these terms and conditions will result in the winning entrant being deemed ineligible for any prize. In the event winner is deemed ineligible, fails to comply with sweepstakes procedures, or is not available to claim prize during specified dates, then an alternate winner will be selected at random, time permitting.

Limit one prize per winner for this sweepstakes.

Odds of winning depend on number of valid entries received.

Final determination of winners are always conditional on verification of eligibility and compliance with all rules and procedures. 

V.  PRIZE(S)

GRAND PRIZE: One (1) Spring Training Getaway Prize Package which includes: round-trip economy class air fare for two (2) people from CHICAGO, IL, to PHOENIX, AZ, between the dates of February 24, 2019 and March, 24, 2019 (exact dates to be determined by Sponsor); three (3) nights standard hotel accommodations in a single room (exact dates and hotel location to be determined by Sponsor); and a VISA gift card valued at one-thousand dollars ($100) spending money; total ARV of Grand Prize: $3100.00 US.

Grand Prize winner must be available to travel from CHICAGO, IL to PHOENIX, AZ between the dates of February 24, 2019 and March, 24, 2019 to coincide with the dates of SPRING TRAINING (such dates subject to change). Winner must provide dates for Prize trip to Sponsor within in 30 days of drawing date (by December 20, 2018) and has options for dates to take trip, excluding blackout dates. Unless travel dates are specified by Sponsor and prize provider. Some restrictions may apply.  If potential Winner is unable to travel during such designated dates, the Prize will be forfeited in its entirety and an alternate Prize winner may be selected as stated above (time permitting).

Travel companion must be at least 18-years of age by November 15, 2018. Winner and travel companion must share hotel accommodations.  Winner and travel companion must be available to travel on the same itinerary between the dates of February 24, 2019 and March, 24, 2019.  Exact dates to be determined by Sponsor.  Additional restrictions may apply.

If the actual value of the prize is less than stated approximate retail value, the difference will not be awarded.

Final actual value at time of booking and travel may be substantially more or less depending on dates of travel, point of origin and ticket availability.  Some restrictions apply.  Airline tickets issued in conjunction with the prize are not eligible for frequent flyer miles, and no code share flights may be used. Sponsor reserves the right to structure travel route, on a Sponsor-selected carrier for air travel from a major airport near winner’s residence, in its sole discretion.  All aspects of the travel portion of the prize must be conducted on the dates within the range of options provided by Sponsor in its sole discretion.  Sponsor shall not be responsible for any cancellations, delays, diversions or substitution or any act or omissions whatsoever by the air carriers, hotels and/or other transportation companies or any other persons providing any of these services or accommodations.  Sponsor shall not be liable for any loss or damage to baggage. 

If winner elects to travel without a guest(s), no additional compensation will be awarded.  Each winner and his or her companions must travel together on the same itinerary and possess all required travel documents, including a valid photo ID.

All expenses not specifically provided for herein are the winner’s sole responsibility.  Some restrictions may apply.

Federal, state and local taxes, if any, are the sole responsibility of the winner, who will receive an IRS Form 1099 reflecting the final actual value of any prize valued at $600 or more.

 

Winners are not entitled to exchange or transfer prizes or to obtain cash or other substitutes, but Sponsor in its sole discretion may substitute prizes of equal or greater value.

Prize is subject to availability.  Sponsor is not responsible for cancellation or preemption of show/event/meeting or for other circumstances that make it impractical or impossible to fulfill this element of the prize.  This element of the prize has no approximate retail value, and if it becomes impractical or impossible to fulfill this element, Sponsor’s only obligation will be to provide the remainder, if any, of prize.

VI.  RELEASES

By participating, entrants agree to be bound by these Rules and the decisions of the Sponsor, Judges and/or the sweepstakes administrator, which shall be final in all respects.

By participating in this sweepstakes and accepting any prize that they may win, entrants agree to release WLS Television, Inc., their parent, subsidiary, affiliated and successor companies, advertising and promotion agencies and prize suppliers, and each of their respective officers, directors, agents, representatives and employees, as well as each of their respective successors, representatives from any and all actions, claims, injury, loss or damage arising in any manner, directly or indirectly, from participation in this sweepstakes and/or acceptance or use of the prize.

Winners agree that the Released Parties have not made nor are in any manner responsible or liable for any warranty, representation or guarantee, express or implied, in fact or in law, relative to any prize, including but not limited to its quality, mechanical condition or fitness for a particular purpose. Any and all warranties and/or guarantees on a prize, if any, are subject to the manufacturer’s terms and therefore winners agree to look solely to such manufacturers for any such warranty and/or guarantee.

Entrants authorize the Released Parties to use their name, voice, likeness, biographical data, city and state of residence and entry materials in programming or promotional material, worldwide in perpetuity, or on a winners’ list, if applicable, without further compensation unless prohibited by law.  Sponsor is not obligated to use any of the above mentioned information or materials, but may do so and may edit such information or materials, at Sponsor’s sole discretion, without further obligation or compensation.

To claim prize, winner must: (a) provide proof of age, identity and residency; (b) sign and return affidavit of eligibility/compliance with Rules and publicity/liability release and indemnification; and (c) have their intended guest(s) or travel companion(s), if any, sign liability/publicity release, all within the time period specified by Sponsor.

VII.  MISCELLANEOUS; WINNERS’ LIST 

Void where prohibited.  All federal, state and local laws and regulations apply.

Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to disqualify any individual who tampers with the entry process and to cancel, terminate, modify and/or suspend the sweepstakes in the event of tampering or other circumstances, including but not limited to acts of God or civil disturbance that render it impractical or impossible to complete or fulfill the sweepstakes as originally planned.

List of winners and these Rules will be posted on https://abc7chicago.com/entertainment/promotions-sweepstakes-rules/1263343/ for at least 30 days after winner(s) are notified or announced.
