• Hosted by the Juliette Gordon Low Birthplace Museum, Make Your Mark is a nationwide art contest inviting Girl Scouts of all ages, from Daisies to Ambassadors and even our cherished alumnae, to express themselves through the transformative power of art, showcasing their talents while honoring the rich legacy of Juliette Gordon Low.


    From paintings and drawings to digital art and mixed media, let's celebrate the diverse and dynamic ways Girl Scouts can express their artistic visions. Each submission should reflect your unique perspective and echo the enduring values that Juliette Gordon Low imparted to generations of Girl Scouts. Winning entries in each age bracket will receive a museum gift card and the unique opportunity to have their artwork displayed at the Juliette Gordon Low Birthplace Museum. 


    Submissions open on October 1st and will be accepted until October 21st. The excitement continues as the public voting period runs from October 22nd to October 29th. Make sure to share your artwork and the voting link—rally your friends and family to support your entry during this crucial week. Voting will close on October 30th, followed by a day of judging. We’ll cap off the celebration by announcing the winners on Juliette Gordon Low’s birthday, October 31st!

  • Competition Rules

    • Eligibility: This competition is open to all registered Girl Scouts, from Daisies to Ambassadors, as well as alumnae.
    • Submission Limits: Each participant is allowed to submit only one piece of artwork.
    • Artwork Criteria: All artwork must be original and created solely by the participant. The use of AI-generated art is strictly prohibited.
    • Format: We accept paintings, drawings, mixed media, and digital art.
    • Submission Process: Artwork must be submitted as high-resolution digital images through our online platform. We do not accept physical submissions or mailed entries.
    • Ethical Standards: All submissions must be appropriate for audiences of all ages and should not include offensive or controversial content.


    Competition Timeline

    October 1 - October 21: Official competition submissions open.

    October 22 - October 29: Voting open to the public.

    October 30: Voting closed and judging takes place.

    October 31: Winners announced.


    Age Brackets

    To ensure fairness, the competition is divided into the following categories:

    • Daisies (Grades K-1)
    • Brownies (Grades 2-3)
    • Juniors (Grades 4-5)
    • Cadettes (Grades 6-8)
    • Seniors (Grades 9-10)
    • Ambassadors (Grades 11-12)
    • Alumnae (Post-high school)


    Submission Guidelines

    • Theme: Each entry must reflect a theme inspired by Juliette Gordon Low’s values, such as leadership, community service, or innovation in the arts.
    • Deadline: All entries must be submitted by the end of the registration period, midnight on October 21.
    • Identification: Each submission must include the participant's name, age bracket, troop number, and a brief description of the artwork and its inspiration.
    • Format Requirements: Please submit digital images in JPEG or PNG format with a minimum resolution of 300 dpi to ensure high-quality online display.
    • Intellectual Property: By submitting artwork, participants agree to grant the Juliette Gordon Low Birthplace Museum the right to display, promote, and use the images in future promotional materials, with appropriate credit given to the artists.


    Judging and Winner Selection

    Phase 1- Public Voting

    • Voting Period: Starting October 22, the competition platform will open for public voting. The public will have until midnight on October 29 to vote for their favorite artworks in each category.
    • Voting Rules: Each person is limited to one vote per day, ensuring fairness and allowing for daily engagement during the voting period.
    • Advancement: The top five artworks receiving the most public votes in each category will move on to the next phase of judging.

    Phase 2- Expert Judging

    • Panel Review: A diverse panel of judges, including local artists, art educators, and former Girl Scouts, will review the top public selections. Judges will evaluate based on creativity, adherence to the theme, artistic skill, and overall impact.
    • Decision Making: Judges will independently select the final winners from the pool of public favorites, ensuring the winning entries meet professional artistic standards and reflect popular appeal.
    • Recognition: In addition to the overall competition winners, "People’s Choice" awards will be given to the artworks that received the most votes during the public voting phase, celebrating their popularity and community support.


    Announcement and Recognition

    • Final Announcement: Winners will be announced on October 31. The announcement will feature a showcase of winning entries, including insights into why they were chosen, emphasizing both their popularity and artistic excellence.
    • Prizes: The winning entry from each age bracket will receive a museum gift card and the unique opportunity to have their artwork displayed at the Juliette Gordon Low Birthplace Museum. 
    • Feedback: Judges will provide feedback to all finalists, encouraging artistic development and offering valuable insights into their work.
