Terms and Conditions

Entrants will be deemed to have accepted these terms and conditions and to have agreed to be bound by them when entering this competition. Please note that any deviation from these Terms and Conditions may regretfully render your submission void. The start date of the competition is 7th June 2023 and the closing date for entries is 30th November 2023.

• Your photo must have been taken in Scotland and must have a short caption/title which details the subject of the photo including the location.
• Photos need to be supplied in a jpeg format and these should not extend the maximum file size of 5 MB. Minimum size: 1600 x 1200 pixels @ 72dpi.
• Please refrain from resizing or manipulating the image.
• This competition is open to all, no purchase is necessary.
• All entrants must declare that the photographs are their own work and free of any copyright other than their own personal copyright.
• You may submit multiple photos that count each as one entry.
• Pictures will not be accepted into the competition if they are deemed inappropriate. This includes images that may be offensive, previously published, copyrighted (by somebody other than the entrant) or otherwise contrary to the spirit of the competition.
• Photos may also not be accepted into the competition if the photo is of an identifiable individual who has not given their consent to appear or if photos feature advertising or trademarks which would contravene rules which may govern publications.
• If your photos are deemed inappropriate, they will not be considered by the Photo Competition judges and/or will be removed from the accepted pool of photos. We cannot guarantee a personal response or dialogue for the reasons behind the removal.
• The jury’s decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
• Prizes will consist of a £150 of Unique Cottages Gift vouchers to be redeemed a holiday with Unique Cottages. This holiday needs to be booked before October 2024 and is not transferable.
• No cash alternative, charity donation or substitution prize will be offered.
• In the event of unforeseen circumstances, Unique Cottages reserves the right to substitute a prize of equal or greater value.
• Winners will be notified by email and are required to contact Unique Cottages to confirm acceptance of their prize within 14 days of notification. In the event of non-acceptance within the specified period, or if the person is not contactable, Unique Cottages reserves the right to reallocate the prize awarded to the next best entry or to forfeit the prize.
• In submitting to the competition, you agree to grant Unique Cottages a royalty-free, non-exclusive license to publish and otherwise use the submitted material including photos and descriptions. You still own the copyright to everything you contribute.
• If your image is accepted, we will publish your name whenever possible as part of the Unique Cottages Competition. Note that this accreditation may not be possible in all printed or web publications.
• If you take pictures of other people, you are responsible for gaining their consent for Unique Cottages to use their image free of copyright, fee or any other usage restriction. If the pictures contain people aged 18 or under as part of your entry, you must get consent from the subject’s parents before submitting your photo.
• No responsibility can be accepted for entries lost, delayed, misdirected or corrupted during delivery.
• Unique Cottages reserves the right to alter these competition rules or withdraw or amend this competition at any time without notice.
