  • Needs some ideas? Here are some impactful ways to protect our rivers and contribute to stormwater solutions:

Cleaning Up After Your Pet: Be a responsible pet owner by always picking up after your pets. Bagging pet waste prevents harmful bacteria from contaminating our waterways when it rains.

    .

Mindful Fertilizing: Avoid fertilizing your lawn before rainstorms. Rain can wash away excess fertilizer, carrying harmful chemicals into storm drains and eventually polluting our rivers. Choose to fertilize during dry weather to minimize runoff.

Choose Commercial Carwashes: Choose commercial carwashes over washing your vehicle at home. These facilities ensure that wastewater is properly treated and filtered before it's discharged into the sewer system, preventing pollutants from reaching our rivers.

Eco-Friendly Driveway Cleaning: When cleaning your driveway or outdoor surfaces, choose eco-friendly cleaning products, vinegar or baking soda to avoid harsh chemicals that can pollute stormwater runoff.

Community Cleanup Efforts: Every act of stewardship, no matter how small, plays a crucial role in preserving the health of our rivers and waterways. Whether it's organizing a cleanup in your neighborhood, tidying up local trails, or simply picking up litter in outdoor spaces, every conscientious effort contributes to the Ripple Effect.

By incorporating these ideas into your daily routine, you're not only protecting our rivers but also making a positive impact on stormwater quality. Show us how you're putting these solutions into action through your photos and videos for a chance to win a $25 gift card to the Downtown Grand Junction.
