Official Rules - Neil Peart Spirit of Drumming Scholarship

Eligibility

The Neil Peart Spirit of Drumming Scholarship is open to individuals between the ages of 14 and 21 at the time of entry.

Participants under the age of 18 must have permission from a parent or legal guardian to participate in the scholarship program. By submitting an entry, participants confirm that such permission has been obtained.

The scholarship is void where prohibited by law.

Entry Requirements

To enter, applicants must complete the official scholarship entry form and provide all requested information, including:

Full name

Address

City, State/Province, Zip/Postal Code

Phone number

Email address

Video submission and any additional required materials

Only one entry per person/email address will be accepted. Multiple entries may result in disqualification.

All submitted materials must be original work created by the entrant and must not infringe upon the rights of any third party, including copyrights, trademarks, or privacy rights.

Scholarship Entry Period

The scholarship application period begins on May 20, 2026 and ends on June 12, 2026 at 11:59 PM EST.

Entries received after the deadline will not be considered.

Judging and Winner Selection

All eligible submissions will be reviewed by a panel appointed by Modern Drummer Publications, Inc. Judges will evaluate entries based on musicianship, creativity, passion, and overall spirit of drumming.

All judging decisions are final.

The selected winner will be announced through Modern Drummer’s official channels and contacted directly via email and/or phone.

If the selected winner does not respond within five (5) business days, Modern Drummer reserves the right to select an alternate winner.

The winner may be required to sign an affidavit of eligibility, liability release, and publicity release where permitted by law.

Media Release & Promotional Rights

By entering the scholarship, participants grant Modern Drummer Publications, Inc. the right to use, reproduce, edit, publish, distribute, and display submitted videos, photographs, names, likenesses, and related materials for promotional, marketing, editorial, social media, advertising, and educational purposes in any media worldwide, without additional compensation, unless prohibited by law.

For participants under the age of 18, such consent must be granted by a parent or legal guardian.

Prize

The scholarship prize includes:

One (1) year of private drum lessons provided by a Modern Drummer education partner or selected educator

One (1) year subscription to Modern Drummer

A selection of Modern Drummer merchandise and partner products

No cash substitution or transfer of prizes is permitted.

The approximate retail value of the scholarship package is $5,000 USD.

Any applicable taxes are the sole responsibility of the winner.

Technical Issues and Disqualification

Modern Drummer Publications, Inc. is not responsible for technical malfunctions, failed submissions, internet issues, or other errors that may affect participation.

Modern Drummer reserves the right to disqualify any entrant suspected of tampering with the entry process or violating these rules.

Modern Drummer also reserves the right to modify, suspend, or cancel the scholarship program if necessary due to circumstances beyond its control.

Release of Liability

By participating, entrants agree to release and hold harmless Modern Drummer Publications, Inc., its affiliates, partners, employees, officers, directors, and representatives from any claims, damages, liabilities, or expenses arising from participation in the scholarship program or acceptance/use of the prize.

General Conditions

No purchase is necessary to enter or win.

By participating, entrants agree to abide by these Official Rules and the decisions of Modern Drummer Publications, Inc.

If any provision of these rules is found to be invalid or unenforceable, all remaining provisions will remain in effect.

Modern Drummer Publications, Inc. reserves the right to update or modify these rules at any time without prior notice.
