OFFICIAL JOHN’S INCREDIBLE KIDS COOK-OFF CONTEST RULES 

NO PURCHASE NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN THE JOHN’S INCREDIBLE KIDS COOK-OFF CONTEST (“the Contest”). Entry into this Contest constitutes the acceptance of these Official Rules. 

TIMELINE OF CONTEST 

I. WHO CAN ENTER?
You are eligible to enter the Contest if you are between the ages of 7-12 years of age as of February 22, 2022 and are a legal United States’ resident residing in California, or Nevada at the time of entry (“Entrant”). Entries must include the assent of Entrant’s parent or legal guardian 18 years or older to the electronic Waiver of Liability and Release. Entrants are not eligible to enter and will be disqualified if: 

  1. Entrant is determined to have been younger than 7 years old or older than 12 years old as of February 22, 2022.
  2. Entrant is determined not to be a legal resident of the United States residing in California or Nevada at the time of the entry.
  3. Any of Entrant’s immediate family (parent, children, siblings, spouse, regardless of where they live) are an employee of JIPC Management, Inc. (“Sponsor”).
  4. Entrant has been assisted by a food professional, such as a chef, food writer, culinary specialist or educator, or someone who creates recipes for pay. Entrant must be the cook and be shown cooking/working without the help of others. This does not include the person filming.
  5. Entrant’s video submission is longer than 3 minutes in length.
  6. Entrant’s video does not show child communicating on their own behalf and cooking their own dish.
  7. Entrant’s video contains language, conduct or attire not suitable for a family entertainment establishment as determined by Sponsor in its sole and absolute discretion, including, but not limited to, content that is lewd, obscene, sexually explicit, pornographic, disparaging, defamatory, libelous, obscene, or that otherwise contains inappropriate content or objectionable material.
  8. Entrant’s video submission does not include assent to the electronic agreement to the Waiver of Liability and Release by Entrant’s parent or legal guardian.

II. PRIZES

A. GRAND PRIZE WINNER
Winner of the Championship Final will be awarded the Grand Prize, which includes: 

  1. A check for $5,000.00.
  2. A party/event at any of John’s Incredible Pizza Company location for up to 20 people. Date/time subject to availability. Event must be booked by October 1, 2022. Retail value is approximately up to $459.80.
  3. Photo and video to be used in print, digital, radio or television promotions.
  4. Opportunity for Entrant to develop a new recipe for John’s inspired by the winner’s cooking. This new dish may possibly be featured on John’s buffet.

B. SEMI-FINALIST WINNERS
The two Semi-Finalists Winners who do not win the Grand Prize will each receive prizes, which include: 

  1. A check for $500.
  2. A party/event at any of John’s Incredible Pizza Company location for up to 10 people. Date/time subject to availability. Event must be booked by October 1, 2022. Retail value is approximately up to $229.90.

C. HONORARY MENTION: MOST VOTED VIDEO
All approved Entries will be posted on the Site and will be subject to voting by visitors to the Site during the Voting Period, which begins on February 22, 2022 at 12:00am PST and ends on May 31, 2022 at 11:59pm. Visitors will have the opportunity to visit the Site each day during the Voting Period and vote for their favorite Entry. Limit one (1) vote per Entry, per person, per day. The use of robotic or automatic devices for voting is prohibited and Sponsor reserves the right to nullify all such votes and to disqualify the responsible individual from voting. Any attempt by any person to vote more than the number of times authorized herein, using any third-party proxy voting services, incentives not sponsored by Sponsor, using multiple names or e-mail addresses and/or any other fraudulent mechanism(s), including robotic, automatic, programmed or similar methods, shall give Sponsor, in its sole discretion, the right to disqualify Entrant from Contest. All Entrants and the votes each Entrant receives are subject to verification by Contest Administrator and must meet all eligibility requirements before Entrant may be confirmed as a winner of any prize.
The entrant video that receives the most votes at the end of the voting period will receive a prize of a $200 FunCard awarded on or around June 10, 2022. Voting has no bearing on the selection of entrants into the Semi-finals or Finals competitions. 

D. TERMS FOR ALL PRIZES
Approximate retail value of all prizes is up to $6,919.60. Sponsor reserves the right in its sole and absolute discretion to substitute a prize or prize component with a prize of equal or greater value. Prizes are non-transferable and may not be given, bartered, substituted, sold, or exchanged for cash or another prize. All Federal, State and Local laws and regulations apply. All Winners will be responsible for all Federal, State or other applicable taxes in connection with the receipt of Prizes, respectively, including providing the Winner’s social security number for tax purposes. 

III. HOW DO I ENTER?
To enter, go to https://www.johnspizza.com/kidscook between February 22, 2022 at 12:00am PST and May 31, 2022  at 11:59pm PST (“Promotion Period”) and fill out completely the information requested in the online entry form in the English language, including Entrant’s responsible legal guardian information, Entrant’s first name and last name, date of birth, city where Entrant lives, and closest John’s location. Entries must be submitted by Entrant’s parent or legal guardian.

There are three components to the contest: 

 

IV. ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Entries must be the original content of the entrant. Video entries cannot be submitted on someone’s behalf. Use of automated processes and devices to submit electronic entries is not permitted.

 

  1. RECIPE REQUIREMENTS 
    1. Entrant’s original recipe must be capable of being prepared in 30 minutes or less, not including baking/cooking or cooling time.
    2. Entrant’s original recipe cannot have been published in any form, including but not limited to publication in cookbooks, in magazines, on food blogs or on recipe websites.

V. HOW WILL ENTRIES BE JUDGED?
Sponsor’s judges will review all video submission entries and select a limited number of eligible Entrants to participate in the Virtual Semi-Final Cook-Offs (each, a “Potential Championship Finalist”).

 

  1. VIDEO SUBMISSIONS FOR SELECTION OF SEMI-FINALISTS
    Each eligible Entrant’s video submission will be scored using the criteria and weighting outlined below. 
    1. Recipe/Food Appearance (25%)
    2. Child’s demonstration of cooking (25%)
    3. Child’s explanation of why they like to cook/personality and camera presence (50%)


A maximum of 70 Entrants will be invited to participate in the Virtual Semi-Final Cook-Offs.

  1. SELECTION OF FINALISTS AT VIRTUAL SEMI-FINAL COOK-OFFS
    The Virtual Semi-final Entrants will be invited to prepare a dish and attend a virtual Semi-Finals session in which they will have two minutes to present their dish and answer questions from the judges.
    Entrant will be disqualified if they do not adhere to the time deadlines. Each entrant will receive 4 admission passes to John’s and 4 $5 FunCards to use at another time.

 

The Semi-Finalists will be scored using the criteria and weighting outlined below. 

  1. Recipe/Food Appearance at Semi-Finals (50%)
  2. Personality and Camera Presence during Semi-Finals or video sent alternatively (50%)

 

3 Semi-Final Cook-Off entrants will be chosen to participate in the Championship Finals Cook-Off in Carson, CA. Entrants will be notified June 29, 2022 if they are invited to the Championship Finals Cook-Off.

  1. SELECTION OF THE GRAND PRIZE WINNER
    Each Finalist will participate in Championship Finals Cook-Off and prepare a recipe in the kitchen at John’s Incredible Pizza Company in Carson, CA. The Finalists will provide their own ingredients and bring them to the Championship. The Finalists will have one hour to prepare and cook their recipe themselves. The Finalists may have one parent or guardian present in the kitchen for supervision only. Parent or guardian may not participate in the actual preparation of the recipe or the Entrant will be disqualified.

    Each entrant will receive 4 admission passes to John’s and 4 $5 FunCards to use the day of the Finals. Sponsor will provide each entrant with specific instructions on time deadlines for set up and judging. Entrant will be disqualified if they do not adhere to the time deadlines.
    The Finalists will be scored using the criteria and weighting outlined below. 
    1. Recipe/Food Appearance (25%)
    2. Child’s demonstration of cooking (25%)
    3. Taste (25%)
    4. Personality/Camera Presence (25%)

 

The judges will select one finalist to be the Contest’s Grand Prize winner. Judges reserve the right to not consume food that Sponsor deems unsafe for consumption.

  1. GENERAL JUDGING CONDITIONS
    In the event of a tied score, the Entry with the highest score for taste will be declared the Grand Prize winner.

VI. WHAT HAPPENS IF CHOSEN AS A FINALIST? (“POTENTIAL WINNER”)?

NOTIFICATION 
Potential Winners will be notified on or around June 29, 2022. All Potential Winners will be required to sign (1) an affidavit to certify that their Entry complies with all Contest requirements and Official Rules, (2) a confidentiality agreement, and (3) a liability release/assignment of rights, all of which must be returned within 72 hours of receipt of notification of Potential Winner status.

 

 

CONTEST LOCATION 

 

TRAVEL EXPENSE
Potential Winners will have their travel to Carson, CA booked and paid for by Sponsor, including airfare, hotel stay, and two meals at John’s Incredible Pizza Company. Costs incurred beyond the aforementioned items are the responsibility of the Potential Winner.

In addition, Potential Winners must be able to participate in the travel portion of the Prize. If any Potential Winner cannot be contacted or fails to execute and return the required documents within the required time period, is disqualified for any reason, fails or refuses to claim his or her prize for any reason, or is unable to participate for any reason, the prize will be forfeited and the Potential Winner will not be eligible for any prize. The Potential Finalist’s Entry with the Category’s next highest Initial Score will become the Potential Winner. Sponsor, in its sole discretion, may also choose not to replace any Potential Winner(s).

Once the Potential Winners are confirmed by Sponsor as official winners (“Winners”), Sponsor will provide Winners with further Contest procedures and policies, and all Winners agree to comply with such procedures. Winners may be required to make additional promotional appearances. Method of travel and accommodations for such appearances shall be chosen by Sponsors at their expense. Any Potential Winner who does not comply with these requirements or cannot be easily located at the email address or phone number provided will not be eligible for any prize.

In the event the Grand Prize Winner selected by the judges is unable to perform the duties as described above, the Semi-Finalists with the next highest score will be secured. Reasonable accommodations will be provided for substantiated disabilities at the sole discretion of Sponsor. 

VII. GENERAL CONDITIONS
By entering an Entrant into this Contest, you agree to release, discharge, indemnify and hold harmless Sponsor, other participating sponsors, and their respective parent companies, subsidiaries, their respective representatives and agents, advertising and promotion agencies, promotion partners and prize suppliers, and all of their respective affiliated companies, employees, officers, directors and shareholders, from and against all claims and damages or liability arising in connection with you or your Entrant’s participation and/or entry in the Contest and/or you or your receipt or use of any prize awarded in this Contest, including, but not limited to claims for injuries, damages, or losses to any person (including death) or property of any kind resulting in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, from acceptance, possession, misuse or use of any prize or participation in any Contest-related activity or participation in this Contest.

By submitting your Entry, you and your Entrant accept all Contest rules and agree to be bound by the decisions of the judges, which will be final. You also agree that the Entry or Entries become the sole property of Sponsor. Sponsor reserves the right to edit, adapt, copyright, publish, transfer and use any or all of them, and allow others to do so, without compensation. Except where prohibited, accepting a prize in the Contest constitutes your consent for Sponsor and its nominees to use the Entry, name, likeness, hometown and state for promotional purposes in any media without further payment or consideration. Sponsor is not responsible for any changes or effects caused to the entrant's computer system as a result of submitting electronic entries. Only entries submitted via the electronic Entry form provided on the website above will be accepted. If the Contest site fails for any reason or if any video entries submitted through the JIPC Management site are unable to be uploaded to an outside video hosting site, any Entry received during that time will be deemed a defective Entry. Entries submitted via any other method, including but not limited to U.S. Postal Service, facsimile or other express delivery services, will NOT be accepted. Sponsor and its promotion agencies are not responsible for phone, network, electronic or computer hardware or software failure, or technical failures of any kind, lost or unavailable network connections, fraud, incomplete, garbled or delayed computer transmissions, whether caused by Sponsor, Entrants or by any of the equipment or programming associated with or utilized in the promotion or by any technical or human error which may occur in the processing of submissions which may damage a user’s system or limit a participant’s ability to participate in the Contest.

Sponsor may prohibit any individual from participating in the Contest or winning a prize if, in its sole discretion, it determines that said individual is attempting to undermine the legitimate operation of the Contest by cheating, hacking, deception, or other unfair practices; violates the Official Rules; or acts in an unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner at any time during the Contest, or with intent to annoy, abuse, threaten or harass any other person.

All issues and disputes regarding any aspect of the Contest, including, but not limited to the construction, interpretation and enforceability of these Official Rules, shall be governed by the laws of the state of California, without regard to principles of conflicts of laws. All suits and claims shall be brought in a court of competent jurisdiction. Sponsor reserves the right to cancel this Contest at its sole discretion. Sponsor is not responsible for: (1) any incorrect or inaccurate information, whether caused by Entrant, by printing errors or by any of the equipment or programming associated with or utilized in the Contest; (2) technical failures of any kind, including, but not limited, to malfunctions, interruptions, or disconnections in phone lines or network hardware or software; (3) unauthorized human intervention in any aspect of the Contest; (4) printing, typographical, technical, computer, network or human error which may occur in the announcement of the prizes or in any Contest-related matter or materials; or (5) any injury or damage to persons or property which may be caused, directly or indirectly, in whole or in part, from participation in the Contest and/or downloading of any materials related to this Contest. If for any reason an Entry is confirmed to have been erroneously deleted, lost, or otherwise destroyed or corrupted, Entrant’s sole remedy is another Entry in the Contest.

WARNING: Any attempt by any person to deliberately undermine the legitimate operation of the Contest may be a violation of criminal and civil law, and, should such an attempt be made, Sponsor reserves the right to seek damages from any such person to the fullest extent permitted by law. Sponsor’s failure to enforce any term of these Official Rules shall not constitute a waiver of that provision. 

Sponsor reserves the right to terminate, suspend or modify this Contest, in whole or in part, at any time and without notice or obligation if, in Sponsor’s sole discretion, any factor or event arises that could interfere with the proper conduct, administration, security or impartiality of the Contest as contemplated by these Official Rules. 

VIII. ASSIGNMENT OF RIGHTS
Entrant hereby acknowledges that his or her Entry and all other materials of every kind whatsoever created by Entrant relating to the Contest (collectively, the “Work”) are a “work made for hire” (as that term is used in the United States Copyright Act) for Sponsor, and assigns to Sponsor (or, if any applicable law prohibits or restricts such assignment, contestant hereby grants to Sponsor an irrevocable, perpetual, royalty-free, transferable license of) limited right, title and interest in and to such Work, including, without limitation, all rights of every kind and nature (whether now known or hereafter devised, including all copyrights therein and thereto and all renewals and extensions thereof), throughout the universe, in perpetuity, for all purposes, in any and all media, whether now known or hereafter devised. Entrant acknowledges and agrees that the Sponsor does not have now, nor shall have in the future, any duty or liability, direct or indirect, vicarious, contributory, or otherwise, with respect to the infringement or protection of any copyright in and to Entrant’s entry.
