Weather Sketchers’ School Visit Contest Rules

I.  NAME OF SPONSOR(S)

WeatherTech Direct, LLC. and WLS Television, Inc.  (Hereinafter collectively referred to as “Sponsor”).

II.  ELIGIBILITY 

The Contest is only open to schools in the following areas: Illinois, Indiana and Wisconsin; residing in one of the following counties: in Illinois - Lake, McHenry, DeKalb, Kane DuPage, Cook, Kendall, Will Grundy, Kankakee, La Salle; in Indiana - Lake, Porter, La Porte, Newton, Jasper; and in Wisconsin - Kenosha, Walworth, Racine. The Contest Entries on behalf of the school must be compiled and submitted by a teacher or school administrator, who is over the age of 18 at the time of entry, currently employed and teaching in any or all grades 1-6, children ages 6-12, in a public school or accredited private school in compliance with the laws/regulations of its state, and who is a legal resident of Illinois, Indiana or Wisconsin (“Entrants’ Teacher”).

Any individuals (including but not limited to employees, consultants, independent contractors, and interns) who have, within the past six months, performed services for WeatherTech Direct, LLC. and WLS Television, Inc. and/or any organizations responsible for sponsoring, fulfilling, administering, advertising or promoting the contest or supplying the prize, and/or their respective parent, subsidiary, affiliated and successor companies, and immediate family and household members of such individuals, are not eligible to enter or play.  "Immediate family members" shall mean parents, step-parents, children, step-children, siblings, step-siblings, or spouses.  "Household members" shall mean people who share the same residence at least three months a year. People who have won any other prizes on the station within 90 days of Entry Period are not eligible to enter this contest.

III.  HOW AND WHEN TO ENTER

NO PURCHASE NECESSARY.

To Enter, the Submitting’ Teacher must do one of three forms of entry listed below.

To submit Contest Entry form, Go to the ABC 7 Chicago web site (http://www.abc7chicago.com), click on the “Weather Sketchers School Visit” contest graphic; or click the “Promotions” graphic and scroll down to the “Weather Sketchers School Visit” Contest information to click the official Contest Entry link.  The Submitting Teacher will be required to submit teacher name, school name, school address, contact phone number and email address and choose to complete one of the three options of means of entry: (1) Website Entry, (2) Mail-In Entry or (3) Delivery/Drop-off Entry and follow the steps for each option.

All weather sketches must be created by children Ages 6-12 from the participating classroom of the school name and location listed upon entry. Each sketch must be numbered and a list must be included with the child’s first and last name, by number for each participating classroom.  

Option 1:Website Entry:

Entrant must submit electronically: one (1) entry for (1) participating classroom (“Contest Entry”) between 4100 am Central Time (“CT”) on January 9, 2017 and 11:59 pm CT on January 20, 2017 (the “Entry Period”) to dedicated entry page through upload portal. Submitting Teacher must upload one (1) file containing all copies of the participating classroom’s weather sketches. Submitting Teacher must complete the form in full as indicated on dedicated entry page.  

Option 2: Mail-In Entry:

Submitting Teacher must mailin as means of entry and submit in envelope or packaging and labeled to “ABC 7 Chicago /Attn: Marketing Sales, Weather Sketchers Contest, 190 N. State St. Chicago IL 60601.”  Entrants Teacher name, email, phone number, and school name and location must be listed on or inside the envelope or package. All mail-in entries must be sent certified mail return receipt requested or by overnight courier to ABC 7 Chicago, c/o WLS-TV Marketing Department, 190 North State St, Chicago, Illinois 60664-0389. All Mail In entries must be postmarked by January 20, 2017.  Sponsors are not responsible for lost, late or misdirected mail.

To Enter Via Delivery/Drop Off:

Submitting Teacher must delivery/drop-off as means of entry.  Entrants must then have sketches sent via delivery or personal drop-off to “ABC 7 Chicago /Attn: Marketing Sales, Weather Sketchers Contest, 190 N. State St. Chicago IL 60601.” Sketches must be in envelope or packaging and labeled to “ABC 7 Chicago /Attn: Marketing Sales, Weather Sketchers Contest, 190 N. State St. Chicago IL 60601.” Entrant’s name, email, phone number, school name and location must be listed on or inside the envelope or package.   All entries dropped off must be received at ABC 7 by January 20, 2017.  All entries mailed or dropped off remain the property of Sponsor and will not be acknowledged or returned. 

Odds of winning are based on the number of eligible entries received in the Entry Period.  Final determination of winner is always conditional on verification of eligibility and compliance with all rules and procedures. 

Sponsor is not responsible for entries not received, mail that is lost, stolen, late, illegible, incomplete, damaged, mutilated, misdirected, altered, tampered with, or postage-due.

Sponsor can provide no technical support and accepts no responsibility for insuring the receipt or successful submission of your entry.  Mass entries or entries generated by a script, macro or use of automated methods will be disqualified.  Sponsor is not responsible for failed, partial or garbled computer transmissions, or for technical failures of any kind, including but not limited to electronic malfunction or damage of any network, hardware or software.  If for any reason the contest is not capable of running as planned, including infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures, or other causes that corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of the contest, Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to disqualify any individual who tampers with the entry process, and to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the contest.  No responsibility is assumed for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line failure, theft or destruction or unauthorized access to, or alteration of, entries; or any problems or technical malfunctions of any telephone network or lines, computer online systems, servers, or providers, computer equipment, software, failure of any e-mail or electronic entry to be received on account of technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any Web-site, or any combination thereof, including any injury or damage to entrant’s or any other person’s computer related to or resulting from participation in or downloading any materials from this contest.  In the event of a dispute over an electronic entry, prize will be awarded to the owner of the e-mail account, not the name on the entry form.  Except as otherwise contemplated by these Rules, and to the extent entrants may otherwise elect at the time of Entry, information provided by you for these Sweepstakes is subject to Sponsor’s privacy policy located at https://disneyprivacycenter.com/privacy-policy-translations/english (“Privacy Policy”).

IV.  HOW AND WHEN WINNERS WILL BE SELECTED AND NOTIFIED 

Winner will be selected on or around 10:30am CT, January 31st 2017 from all eligible Contest Entries.  Judging criteria will be: originality, overall appeal and creativity.  Entrant will be notified by email or phone on or around 10:30 am CT, January 31st, 2017. Sponsor may or may not select and/or announce the winner’s name and school on air.

V.  PRIZE(S)

One winner will receive a School Visit from ABC 7’s Early Morning Meteorologist for one (1) classroom period between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. CT on a mutually agreed upon school day, between February 3, 2017 ad March 1, 2017.  Winning teacher or school administrator must claim/accept prize and have signed and completed the release forms to WLS-TV, Inc. no later than February 3rd, 2017. Classroom visit must be coordinated between the school of the winning Parent or Guardians Child and WLS-TV.  Prize fulfillment must occur prior to March 1, 2017.          

Prize is subject to availability.  Sponsor is not responsible for cancellation or preemption of show/contest/event/meeting or for other circumstances that make it impractical or impossible to fulfill this element of the prize.  This element of the prize has no approximate retail value, and if it becomes impractical or impossible to fulfill this element, Sponsor’s only obligation will be to provide the remainder, if any, of prize. Winners are not entitled to exchange or transfer prizes or to obtain substitutes, but Sponsor in its sole discretion may substitute prizes or equal or greater value.

VI.  RELEASES

By participating, entrants agree to be bound by these official rules and the decisions of the Sponsor, Judges and/or the contest administrator, which shall be final in all respects.

By participating in this contest and accepting any prize that they may win, entrants agree to release WeatherTech Direct, LLC. and WLS Television, Inc., their parent, subsidiary, affiliated and successor companies, advertising and promotion agencies and prize suppliers, and each of their respective officers, directors, agents, representatives and employees, as well as each of their respective successors, representatives and assigns “Released Parties” from any and all actions, claims, injury, loss or damage arising in any manner, directly or indirectly, from participation in this contest and/or acceptance or use of the prize.

Entrants or Entrants’ parent or legal guardian, if Entrant is a minor, authorize the Released Parties to use their name, voice, likeness, biographical data, city and state of residence and entry materials in programming or promotional material, in any media now known or hereafter created or conceived, worldwide in perpetuity, or on a winner’s list, if applicable, without further compensation unless prohibited by law.  Sponsor is not obligated to use any of the above mentioned information or materials, but may do so and may edit such information or materials, at Sponsor’s sole discretion, without further obligation or compensation.

To claim prize winner will be required to: (a) provide proof of winner’s age, residency, and legal status; (b) sign and return eligibility, publicity, liability, rules compliance and any other releases requested by Sponsor; and (c) have winner’s parent or guardian, sign and return releases requested by Sponsor; all within the time period(s) specified by Sponsor.

By entering this contest, , entrants certify that entry materials are original and created by entrant, that entrants have the necessary rights, permission and authority to submit such materials, and, if applicable, that entrants maintain a valid copyright in the materials.  Entrants acknowledge that such materials may be included and/or discussed in a broadcast, that such discussion may include statements or opinions by the broadcast talent or others about the entrants, the entrants’ appearances and/or the materials, and that those statements and opinions may be considered surprising, humiliating, embarrassing, derogatory, defamatory or otherwise offensive or injurious to them, Sponsor’s employees, its studio or at-home audience and/or other third parties.  Entrants release the Released Parties from any actions, claims, injury, loss or damage allegedly caused, directly or indirectly, by any use of the materials and/or such statements or opinions made in connection with them during a broadcast.

By submitting entry materials and/or acceptance or use of Prize, Submitting Teachers certify that such materials are original and created by entrant, that such materials may be included and/or discussed in a broadcast, that such discussion may include statements or opinions by the broadcast talent or others about the teachers, the teachers’ appearances and/or the materials, and that those statements and opinions may be considered surprising, humiliating, embarrassing, derogatory, defamatory or otherwise offensive or injurious to them, Sponsor’s employees, its studio or at-home audience and/or other third parties.  Submitting Teachers release the Released Parties from any actions, claims, injury, loss or damage allegedly caused, directly or indirectly, by any use of the materials and/or such statements or opinions made in connection with them during a broadcast.

Submitting teachers, authorize the Released Parties to use their name, voice, likeness, biographical data, city and state of residence and entry materials in programming or promotional material, in any media now known or hereafter created or conceived, worldwide in perpetuity, or on a winner’s list, if applicable, without further compensation unless prohibited by law.  Sponsor is not obligated to use any of the above mentioned information or materials, but may do so and may edit such information or materials, at Sponsor’s sole discretion, without further obligation or compensation.

VII.  MISCELLANEOUS; WINNERS’ LIST 

Void where prohibited.  All federal, state and local laws and regulations apply.

Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to disqualify any individual who tampers with the entry process and to cancel, terminate, modify and/or suspend the contest in the event of tampering or other circumstances, including but not limited to acts of God or civil disturbance that render it impractical or impossible to complete or fulfill the contest originally planned.

List of winners will be posted on website and can be mailed by request including a self-addressed, stamped envelope to ABC 7 Chicago, c/o WLS-TV Marketing Department, 190 North State St, Chicago, Illinois 60664-0389, within 60 days after determination of contest winner.
