TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Void outside the 50 United States, District of Columbia and where prohibited. Do not proceed to participate if you are not at least 18 years of age and a legal resident of, and located within, one of the 50 United States, or the District of Columbia, at the time of submission. By participating, you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions and the decisions of the Promoter, which are binding and final in all matters relating to this Challenge. This Challenge is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with Instagram or Twitter.

NO PURCHASE IS NECESSARY TO PARTICIPATE OR RECEIVE AN AWARD. A PURCHASE WILL NOT INCREASE OR DECREASE YOUR CHANCES OF RECEIVING AN AWARD.

CHALLENGE PERIOD:  The March Pillowcase Madness Challenge (“Challenge”) begins at 9:01 a.m. Central Time (“C.T.”) on 3/1/17, and ends at 11:59 p.m. C.T. on 4/7/17 (“Challenge Period”). The purpose of the Challenge is to increase the number of pillowcases being donated to charities throughout the United States. The Challenge Period will consist of four (4) weekly periods (each, a “Weekly Period”). Each Weekly Period will begin on a Wednesday at 9:01 a.m. C.T. and end the following Tuesday at 11:59 p.m. C.T. Each Weekly Period will also have a corresponding voting period as further outlined in the chart below (each, a “Weekly Voting Period”).

PROMOTER:  Meredith Corporation, 1716 Locust St., Des Moines, Iowa (“Promoter”).

HOW TO PARTICIPATE: During the Challenge Period, visit allpeoplequilt.com/pillowcasemadness and follow the instructions provided to complete and submit the online registration form. Individuals may enter as a sole participant or as part of a “Team”. An individual is not permitted to be part of more than one Team and may not enter as part of a Team and as a sole participant. Only one person on a Team will be considered the participant for submission purposes. Each member of any Team must be eligible to participate in this Challenge and comply with these Terms and Conditions or such Team may be disqualified. This Challenge is subject to all applicable federal, state and local laws. By participating in the Challenge, each participant and where all members of a participating Team (as applicable), unconditionally accept and agree to comply with and abide by these Terms and Conditions and the decisions of the Promoter which will be final and binding including the Promoter’s right to verify eligibility, to interpret these Terms and Conditions, and to resolve any disputes relating to this Challenge at any time.

HOW TO OBTAIN POINTS: The object of the Challenge is to accrue the most points by the end of the Challenge Period. Points can be obtained in the following ways:

Weekly Period 1: Upload a photo of yourself or your Team to receive ten (10) points. Photos must be received by 11:59 p.m. C.T. on 3/8/17 to receive the ten (10) points. Limit of one (1) photo per participant/Team.

Weekly Period 2: Upload a photo of you or your team in action – any photo of you/your team working on pillowcases. Photos must be received by 11:59 p.m. C.T. on 3/15/17 to receive the ten (10) points. Limit of one (1) essay per participant/Team.

Weekly Period 3: Upload and tell us the charity or charities you selected and 50 words or less about the charity or charities you and/or your Team plan to donate the pillowcases to and you will receive ten (10) points. Charity information must be received by 11:59 p.m. C.T. on 3/22/17to receive the ten (10) points. Limit of one (1) essay per participant/Team.

Weekly Period 4: Upload a photo of your pillowcases with the final quantity of pillowcases you and/or your Team have made to be donated. Number of pillowcases must be represented in the photo along with all the pillowcases completed. You will receive one (1) point for each pillowcase made. Final quantities must be received by 11:59 p.m. C.T. on 3/31/17 to receive the applicable number of points.

Submissions generated by script, macro or other automated means or practices, or by any means which subvert the submission process will be void. All submissions must be received by the dates and times specified above to receive the applicable number of points.

HOW TO OBTAIN BONUS POINTS: There are two (2) ways to obtain bonus points:

(1) During the Challenge Period, participants and Teams will have the opportunity to post about the Challenge on Instagram or Twitter and include the hashtags #pillowcasemadness and #promo in their posts. Each post will provide the applicable participant/Team with one (1) bonus point. The hashtags above must be included in the posts to receive bonus points. Limit of one (1) bonus point submission post per person/Team per day throughout the Challenge Period, regardless of social media channel used to obtain bonus point(s). Bonus point submissions received from any person/Team in excess of the stated daily limitation will be void.

(2) During each Weekly Voting Period, individuals who are at least 18 years of age will be invited to https://www.facebook.com/sewathon/ to vote for their favorite individual or team. Limit one (1) vote per Facebook User per Weekly Voting Period throughout the Challenge Period. You may only use one (1) Facebook account to vote in connection with this Challenge. Votes received from any person or e-mail address in excess of the stated limitation will be void. Teams are prohibited from obtaining votes by any fraudulent or inappropriate means, including without limitation, offering prizes or other inducements to members of the public, as determined by Sponsor in its sole discretion. Subject to verification of eligibility and compliance with these Official Rules. At the end of each Weekly Voting Period, the one (1) individual/team receiving the highest total number of valid votes during the Weekly Voting Period will receive five (5) bonus points. In the event of a tie, both individuals/teams will receive the five (5) bonus points. Use of script, macro or any automated system to vote or with the intent to impair the integrity of the voting process is prohibited and all such votes will be void. ANY VOTE COUNTS DISPLAYED ONLINE MAY NOT BE ACCURATE. RESULTS ARE UNOFFICIAL UNTIL ALL ONLINE VOTES HAVE BEEN TALLIED AND VERIFIED BY SPONSOR.

REQUIREMENTS OF SUBMISSIONS: Submissions may not contain, as determined by the Promoter, in its sole discretion, any content that:

·    is sexually explicit or suggestive; unnecessarily violent or derogatory of any ethnic, racial, gender, religious, professional or age group; profane or pornographic; contains nudity;

·    promotes alcohol, illegal drugs, tobacco, firearms/weapons (or the use of any of the foregoing); promotes any activities that may appear unsafe or dangerous; promotes any particular political agenda or message;

·    is obscene or offensive; endorses any form of hate or hate group; appears to duplicate any other submissions; 

·    defames, misrepresents or contains disparaging remarks about other people or companies;

·    contains trademarks, logos, or trade dress (such as distinctive packaging or building exteriors/interiors) owned by others, without permission; contains any personal identification, such as license plate numbers, personal names, e-mail addresses or street addresses;

·    contains copyrighted materials owned by others (including photographs, sculptures, paintings, and other works of art or images published on or in websites, television, movies or other media), without permission;

·    contains materials embodying the names, likenesses, voices, or other indicia identifying any person, including, without limitation, celebrities and/or other public or private figures, living or dead, without permission;

·    contains look-alikes of celebrities or other public or private figures, living or dead;

·    communicates messages or images inconsistent with the positive images and/or good will to which we wish to associate; and/or

·    violates any law.

Submissions must be the original work of the participant, may not have been previously published, may not have won previous awards, and must not infringe upon the copyrights, trademarks, rights of privacy, publicity or other intellectual property or other rights of any person or entity.  If a submission contains any material or elements that are not owned by the participant, and/or which are subject to the rights of third parties, the participant is responsible for obtaining, prior to submission of the submission, any and all releases and consents necessary to permit the use and exhibition of the submission by Promoter in the manner set forth in these Terms and Conditions, including, without limitation, name and likeness permissions from any person who appears in or is identifiable in the Submission. Promoter reserves the right to request proof of these permissions in a form acceptable to Promoter from any participant at any time. Failure to provide such proof may, if requested, render Submission null and void. By submitting a submission, participant warrants and represents that he/she and any persons appearing or who are identifiable in the submission consent to the submission and use of the submission in the Contest and to its use as otherwise set forth herein.

ELIGIBILITY: This Challenge is open to legal residents of the 50 United States and the District of Columbia, 18 years of age or older. The Challenge will be divided into two (2) participation categories (each, a “Category”); (i) individuals participating by themselves or in a small groups consisting of no more than 5 individuals; and (ii) Quilt Shops/Guilds/Large Groups consisting of 5 individuals or more. Employees of Promoter and any other organizations affiliated with the sponsorship, fulfillment, administration, award support, advertisement or promotion of the Challenge and each of their respective parents, agents, affiliates, subsidiaries, and advertising and promotion agencies, and their immediate family members (regardless of where they reside) or household members, whether or not related, are not eligible to participate or win. “Immediate family members” shall mean spouses, parents, step-parents, children, step-children, siblings, step-siblings, and their respective spouses. “Household members” shall mean people who share the same residence at least three months a year.

AWARD RECIPIENT DETERMINATION: At the conclusion of the Challenge Period, the one (1) participant or Team in each Category that has accrued the highest number of points (as determined by Promoter, in its sole discretion) will be deemed a potential 1st Place award recipient. The one (1) participant or Team in each Category that has accrued the next highest number of points (as determined by Promoter, in its sole discretion) will be deemed a potential 2nd Place award recipient. The one (1) participant or Team in each Category that has accrued the next highest number of points (as determined by Promoter, in its sole discretion) will be deemed a potential 3rd Place award recipient.

AWARD RECIPIENT NOTIFICATION: Potential award recipients will be notified via email, phone and/or mail and may be required to complete and return an Affidavit of Eligibility, IRS W9 form, and Release of Liability/Publicity within ten (10) days of date of notification or runner-up award recipient may be selected from among all remaining eligible submissions. If such documents are not returned within the specified time period, award or award notification is returned as undeliverable, Promoter is unable to contact potential award recipient or potential award recipient is not in compliance with these Terms and Conditions, award will be forfeited and, at Promoter’s discretion, an alternate award recipient may be selected.

INDIVIDUAL/SMALL GROUP 1st PLACE AWARD (1):  $300 awarded in the form of a check.

INDIVIDUAL/SMALL GROUP 2nd PLACE AWARD (1):  $200 awarded in the form of a check.

INDIVIDUAL/SMALL GROUP 3rd PLACE AWARD (1):  $100 awarded in the form of a check.

QUILT SHOPS/GUILDS/LARGE GROUP 1ST PLACE AWARD (1): $600 awarded in the form of a check.

QUILT SHOPS/GUILDS/LARGE GROUP 2nd PLACE AWARD (1): $400 awarded in the form of a check.

QUILT SHOPS/GUILDS/LARGE GROUP 3rd PLACE AWARD (1): $200 awarded in the form of a check.

Awards are awarded “as is” with no warranty or guarantee, either express or implied by Promoter. Award recipient may not substitute, assign or transfer award or redeem award for cash, but Promoter reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to substitute award (or portion thereof) with one of comparable or greater value or to select an alternate charity. All award details are at Promoter’s sole discretion. Award recipient will be responsible for any federal, state and local taxes, as well as any other costs and expenses associated with acceptance and use of prize not specified as covered as part of prize herein. All award details are at Promoter’s sole discretion. The awarding of any award is contingent upon full compliance with these Terms and Conditions.

PRIVACY:  When you participate the Challenge, we collect personally identifying information about you, including your name, complete mailing address, and email address. Your information will not be sold or rented to third parties. Participants must fully complete and submit all non-optional data requested on the submission form to be eligible. Incomplete submissions are void. Participants may be given the option to receive commercial e-mails from Promoter; however, such emails are optional. Eligibility to participate in the Challenge is not dependent upon participant’s consent to receive e-mails and such consent will not affect participant’s chances of winning. LICENSE/USE OF SUBMISSIONS:  By submitting a submission, and to the extent allowed by law, you grant the Released Parties a perpetual, worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive, sub licensable, unconditional and transferable license to edit, modify, cut, rearrange, add to, delete from, reproduce, encode, store, modify, copy, transmit, publish, post, broadcast, display, adapt, exhibit and/or otherwise use or reuse your Entry, name, photo, and biographical material including, but not limited to, all materials submitted in connection with the Challenge in any and all media, throughout the world, and in any manner, for trade, advertising, promotional, commercial, or any other purposes without further review, notice, approval, consideration, or compensation to participant or any third party.

ARBITRATION: Except where prohibited by law, as a condition of participating in this Challenge, participant agrees that:  (1) any and all disputes, claims, and causes of action arising out of or connected with this Challenge, or the award awarded, shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action; and exclusively by final and binding arbitration under the rules of the American Arbitration Association and held at a AAA regional office in New York, NY; (2) the Federal Arbitration Act shall govern the interpretation, enforcement and all proceedings at such arbitration; and (3) judgment upon such arbitration award may be entered in any court having jurisdiction. Under no circumstances will participant be permitted to obtain awards for, and participant hereby waives all rights to claim punitive, incidental or consequential damages including attorney’s fees or any other damages, other than for participant’s actual out-of-pocket expenses (i.e., costs associated with participating in this Challenge), and participant further waives all rights to have damages multiplied or increased.

RELEASES:  By participating in this Challenge, participants agree to release Promoter, Visa and any other organizations affiliated with the sponsorship, fulfillment, administration, award support, advertisement or promotion of the Challenge and each of their respective parents, agents, affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising and promotion agencies, and award suppliers, and each of their respective officers, directors, agents, representatives and employees, as well as each of their respective successors, representatives and assigns (collectively, the “Released Parties”) from any and all actions, claims, injury, loss or damage arising in any manner, in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, from participation in this Challenge and/or acceptance, use or misuse of the award. 

MISCELLANEOUS: Released Parties are not responsible for lost, late, incomplete, damaged, inaccurate, stolen, undelivered, garbled or misdirected submissions or points; or for lost, interrupted or unavailable network, server, Internet Service Provider (ISP), website, or other connections, availability or accessibility or miscommunications or failed computer, satellite, telephone or cable transmissions, lines, or technical failure or jumbled, scrambled, delayed or misdirected transmissions or computer hardware or software malfunctions, failures or difficulties, or other errors or difficulties of any kind whether human, mechanical, electronic, computer, network, typographical, printing or otherwise relating to or in connection with the Challenge, including, without limitation, errors or difficulties which may occur in connection with the administration of the Challenge, the processing of submissions, the tabulations of points, the announcement of the award recipients, or in any Challenge-related materials. Released Parties are also not responsible for any incorrect or inaccurate information, whether caused by site users, tampering, hacking or by any equipment or programming associated with or utilized in the Challenge. Released Parties are not responsible for injury or damage to participants’ or to any other person’s computer related to or resulting from participating in this Challenge or downloading materials from or use of the website.  Promoter reserves the right, in its sole discretion to disqualify any person tampering with the submission process, the operation of the web site or otherwise in violation of these Terms and Conditions. Promoter further reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to cancel, terminate or modify this Challenge if the Challenge is compromised by virus, technical corruption, non-authorized human intervention, or any other causes which, in the sole discretion of the Promoter, corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, proper play or integrity of the Challenge. In the event of cancellation or termination, Promoter reserves the right to select the potential award recipients from among all eligible, non-suspect submissions and points received prior to date of cancellation or termination. In the event of a dispute regarding online submission, submission will be deemed made by the authorized account holder of the e-mail account associated with the submission and he/she must comply with these Terms and Conditions.  The authorized account holder is the natural person who is assigned the e-mail address by the Internet Service Provider (ISP), on-line service provider, or other organization responsible for assigning email addresses. CAUTION: ANY ATTEMPT TO DELIBERATELY DAMAGE THE WEBSITE OR UNDERMINE THE  LEGITIMATE OPERATION OF THIS CHALLENGE IS A VIOLATION OF CRIMINAL AND CIVIL LAWS, AND SHOULD SUCH AN ATTEMPT BE MADE, PROMOTER WILL DISQUALIFY ANY SUCH INDIVIDUAL AND RESERVES THE RIGHT TO SEEK DAMAGES (INCLUDING ATTORNEYS’ FEES) AND OTHER REMEDIES FROM ANY SUCH INDIVIDUAL TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW. 

Except where prohibited by law, submission constitutes permission to use each participant's name, hometown (city and state), voice, biographical information, likeness, photograph and any statements regarding this Challenge in all media now known or hereafter discovered, for any purpose, including without limitation, in connection with, and to promote, market or advertise, the Challenge, in whole or in part, without review, approval, credit or attribution, notification or payment from or to participant or any person or entity, worldwide, in perpetuity, or on an award recipient’s list, if applicable. Challenge is subject to all applicable U. S. federal, state and local laws and regulations. Award recipient may be issued an IRS 1099-MISC tax form in the amount of the award retail value as stated herein.
