• 2023 I Love Barrie contest

    The City of Barrie invites students who attend elementary school, secondary school, or who are homeschooled in Barrie to enter the I Love Barrie contest. Tell us why you love Barrie! Contest runs until March 31, 2023.


    • Kindergarten to Grade 6 students can submit a piece of artwork showcasing why they love Barrie.
    • Grade 7 to 12 students can submit a short story (up to 300 words) about why they love Barrie OR a photo of their favourite spot in the city (must be a high-resolution .jpg file).
    • A class (elementary or secondary school) can submit an entry collaboratively (one work of art, one photo or one short story done by students in a class).

    Entries will be judged on originality, positivity and expressiveness. 

    Pour nos étudiants francophones, vous pouvez soumettre vos oeuvres en Francais. 


    The winners will be announced in early April.

    The three individual student winners will each receive the following: 

    • An I Love Barrie prize pack
    •  Winners’ names and work shared on barrie.ca and in The Barrie Advance
    • The opportunity to share their winning piece at a Barrie City Council meeting

    The winning class will receive the following:

    • City of Barrie branded items for each student in the class
    •  A pizza lunch delivered to the winning class (on a 2023 school day to be determined)
    • Winning class name/school shared on barrie.ca and in The Barrie Advance 

    The approximate total prize value is $300. All prizes above are subject to change and/or cancellation. Prizes will be awarded by Dec. 31, 2023. Prizes are non-transferable and cannot be redeemed for cash.
