2026 TREKELL PET PORTRAIT CONTEST
OFFICIAL RULES AND TERMS & CONDITIONS
These Official Rules govern the Trekell Art Supplies 2026 Pet Portrait Contest (“Contest”) sponsored by Trekell & Co, Inc., DBA Trekell Art Supplies (“Trekell,” “we,” “our,” or “us”).
By entering this Contest, each participant (“Entrant”) agrees to be fully and unconditionally bound by these Official Rules and represents and warrants that they meet all eligibility requirements contained herein.
Trekell reserves the right to verify eligibility and interpret these Official Rules at its sole discretion.
CONTEST PERIOD
The Contest begins on June 1, 2026 and ends on August 31, 2026 at 11:59 PM Pacific Time (“Contest Period”).
All entries must be received through the official submission form on Trekell.com before the deadline to be eligible.
Late, incomplete, corrupted, misdirected, or technically invalid entries will not be accepted.
ELIGIBILITY
The Contest is open worldwide unless prohibited or restricted by local law.
Entrants under the age of 18 must have permission from a parent or legal guardian to participate.
Employees, contractors, affiliates, immediate family members, and household members of Trekell may participate but may be excluded from prize eligibility at Trekell’s sole discretion.
Void where prohibited by law.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Purchase of the official 2026 Trekell Pet Portrait Panel is required to enter the Contest. The purchase of the official 2026 Trekell Pet Portrait Panel serves as the entry fee for this juried art competition.
This Contest is a skill-based art competition. Winners are selected based on judging criteria and are not chosen at random.
To enter, Entrants must:
- Purchase an official 2026 Trekell Pet Portrait Panel
- Create an original pet portrait directly on the official 2026 Trekell Pet Portrait Panel using their chosen medium
- Take a clear digital photograph of the completed artwork on the panel
- Complete the official submission form on Trekell.com
- Upload the digital image of the completed artwork through the official submission form
- Submit all required information before the Contest deadline
Email submissions, mailed submissions, or submissions through social media will not be accepted.
Only artwork depicting animals or pets is eligible. Artwork featuring mythical creatures, copyrighted characters, AI-generated imagery, or subjects deemed inappropriate by Trekell may be disqualified.
Entries must be original artwork created by the Entrant. Copied artwork, traced artwork, heavily AI-assisted artwork, or artwork that infringes upon another party’s intellectual property rights is strictly prohibited and may result in immediate disqualification.
Entrants may submit multiple entries; however, each entry requires the purchase of a separate official 2026 Trekell Pet Portrait Panel.
Submitted entries cannot be replaced, edited, or modified after submission.
Incomplete entries will not be judged.
SKILL LEVELS
If Entrants are unsure which category best fits their experience level, the following definitions apply:
Kids
Children 12 years of age or younger
Beginner
Painting or drawing off and on for 2 years or less. Little to no formal experience. Basic understanding of materials and technique.
Intermediate
Approximately 2–4 years of painting or drawing experience. Demonstrates confident use of values, color, composition, and medium handling.
Advanced
Approximately 5 or more years of painting or drawing experience, often full-time or professionally. Strong understanding of composition, values, color theory, design, and technical execution.
If artwork contains multiple mediums, Entrants should select the Mixed Media category.
Trekell reserves the right to reassign entries to a different category if deemed appropriate.
IMAGE REQUIREMENTS
Accepted image requirements are as follows:
- JPEG/JPG format only
- Maximum file size: 50MB
- Digital photograph or scan of artwork
- Clear, properly lit image of the artwork
- Plain or non-distracting background recommended
Entries that are blurry, improperly cropped, corrupted, incomplete, misleading, or fail to accurately represent the artwork may be disqualified.
JUDGING
Entries will be judged based on criteria including, but not limited to:
- Artistic skill
- Originality
- Composition
- Creativity
- Technical execution
- Overall visual impact
All judging decisions are final and binding.
Trekell reserves the right not to award prizes in any category if, in the judges’ opinion, entries do not meet contest standards.
PRIZES
A total of 36 prizes will be awarded during the 2026 Trekell Pet Portrait Contest.
Advanced Category (5+ years experience)
- 1st Place: $1,000
- 2nd Place: $750
- 3rd Place: $500
Intermediate Category (2–4 years experience)
- 1st Place: $500
- 2nd Place: $250
- 3rd Place: $150
Beginner Category (2 years or less)
- 1st Place: $250
- 2nd Place: $150
- 3rd Place: $100
Kids Category (12 and under)
- 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Place winners will each receive a mystery prize pack
Top Media Categories
The Trekell Pro Team will select:
- 3 Oil winners
- 3 Acrylic winners
- 3 Watercolor winners
- 3 All Other Media winners
Each Top Media Category winner will receive a $100 Trekell gift card.
Pro Animal Categories
Trekell Pro Team artists will select winners in the following categories:
- Best Dog Portrait
- Best Cat Portrait
- Best Other Animal Portrait
Each Pro Animal Category winner will receive a curated Trekell brush set.
Trekell Staff Picks
9 artists selected by the Trekell staff will each receive a $25 Trekell gift certificate.
Prizes are non-transferable and may not be exchanged for cash unless determined otherwise by Trekell.
Trekell reserves the right to substitute prizes of equal or greater value if necessary.
Any taxes, duties, fees, or additional expenses associated with prize acceptance are the sole responsibility of the winner.
WINNER NOTIFICATION
Winners may be notified by email, phone, social media, or public announcement.
If a winner does not respond within the timeframe specified by Trekell, declines the prize, or is found ineligible, Trekell reserves the right to select an alternate winner.
LICENSE AND IMAGE USAGE RIGHTS
By entering the Contest, Entrant grants Trekell Art Supplies a perpetual, worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, transferable license to use, reproduce, edit, modify, publish, distribute, display, promote, and create derivative works from submitted images and related content for marketing, advertising, promotional, educational, social media, website, print, and commercial purposes without additional compensation or approval.
Entrant retains ownership of their original artwork and copyright to the artwork itself.
Entrant understands and agrees that Trekell may crop, resize, edit, combine, or otherwise modify submitted images for promotional purposes.
Trekell will make reasonable efforts to credit artists when practical but is not obligated to do so.
REPRESENTATIONS AND WARRANTIES
By entering the Contest, Entrant represents and warrants that:
- The submitted artwork is original and created by the Entrant
- The submission does not infringe upon any copyright, trademark, privacy, publicity, or intellectual property rights
- The submission does not contain unlawful, defamatory, obscene, hateful, discriminatory, or inappropriate content
- Entrant has all necessary rights and permissions to submit the artwork and images
- The submitted artwork was completed on an official 2026 Trekell Pet Portrait Panel
Entrant agrees to indemnify and hold harmless Trekell, its affiliates, officers, employees, contractors, agents, and partners from any claims, damages, liabilities, costs, or expenses arising from breach of these representations.
DISQUALIFICATION
Trekell reserves the right to disqualify any entry or Entrant for any reason, including but not limited to:
- Violation of these Official Rules
- Suspected fraud or cheating
- Use of AI-generated, copied, or plagiarized artwork
- Offensive or inappropriate content
- Misrepresentation of skill level or ownership
- Failure to use an official 2026 Trekell Pet Portrait Panel
- Tampering with the submission or voting process
- Behavior deemed harmful to the reputation of Trekell
LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
By participating, Entrants agree to release and hold harmless Trekell Art Supplies, Trekell & Co, Inc., and their affiliates, officers, employees, contractors, agents, sponsors, and representatives from any liability, injury, loss, damage, claim, or expense arising from participation in the Contest or acceptance, use, or misuse of any prize.
Trekell is not responsible for:
- Technical malfunctions
- Website outages
- Upload failures
- Lost, delayed, corrupted, or incomplete submissions
- Internet or server issues
- Unauthorized human intervention
- Errors in judging or administration
PRIVACY
Information submitted in connection with the Contest may be used in accordance with Trekell’s Privacy Policy and for Contest administration, marketing, and promotional communications.
GENERAL CONDITIONS
Trekell reserves the right to cancel, suspend, modify, or terminate the Contest at any time without prior notice if circumstances arise beyond its reasonable control.
Trekell reserves the right to amend these Official Rules at any time. Updated rules will be posted on Trekell.com.
These Official Rules shall be governed by and interpreted under the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict of law principles.
Any disputes arising from this Contest shall be resolved exclusively in the courts located in San Bernardino County, California.
