"Sky High"
I created this piece with acrylics trying to capture the idea of a cannabis goddess, my idea of what cannabis might look like personified, content, calm, and magical. I tried to use very illuminating colors to capture a glowing magical effect.
My name is Sydney Barnhouse, I am an 18 year old artist, I love just about anything crafty. I am from Cleveland, Ohio and I have been drawing since I was 10/11 and started painting at about 15. I mainly paint a lot of magical/surreal pictures, dream like art is just fascinating to me. I am working towards making a career and brand for myself in the artist realm and hoping to become a recognizable name in the near future.
Title: Rapture
Meaning: Magic is all around us. I feel a great sense of power when we interact with nature. So much energy flows through that it is beautiful.
Bio: Hope is an American artist currently residing in Mie, Japan. With her interests in Japanese traditional arts and growing up in a western culture, she creates a unique blend of the two influences. Her work has a strong sense of narrative, which contains a tinge of mystery and the unknown.
Dear Judges!
My name is Nikolett Szemelveisz, I am an architectural engineering student with a great interest towards art and beautiful things that this Planet can provide us. I really like nature, I usually stop in the streets when I see a small hidden treasure of it that the other people usually don’t even notice. I’m captivated by all the wonders that surround us, and always examine the smallest details of things, so that I can learn more about them. I like learning and understanding how phenomena, science and structures work in this world.
I'm a self-taught artist, this piece that I submitted for the contest is my very first digital drawing, so it was a bumpy road that lead me through the process, but I really hope that you will like it. Vivid colors, the beauty of nature and magic inspired me, I wished to create something that catches the eye and makes people want to look at it longer, while inspiring them to have unusual and extraordinary thoughts.
I hope my drawing can bring a little happiness to these rough days, it surely can warm my heart. I made it digitally in photoshop with a drawing tablet.
Wishing you a nice and safe week, please take care!
Best Regards
Nikolett Szemelveisz
MAGIC TOUCH - Turning the Corona to the poppy blooms of colorful flowers that will flies and spread to the land n grow and yet the whole world will cherish again with laughters and joys!
The Magician. Palingenesis.
This picture shows the ancient magician in form of the Thoth god, performing palingenesis ritual - the rebirth of plant from the ashes (the creation of a new living organism in the flask).
The egyptian god Thoth also is known as Hermes Trismegistus, the father of Alchemy.
This ritual symbolizes distillation of plant spirit and recreating a new improved personality by the sacred science of alchemy.
The phoenix flying out of the flask in which the spirit of Cannabis is revived is a renewed plant soul soaring to the heights of divine Spirit of Osiris (the Sun).
The picture is created in the alchemical tarot card style, enframed with magic plants and mythical animals.

He is a Guru, a form of the light that lives within each of us. When we invoke Him through a magic ritual of The Herb, he reaches out, and gently guides and transforms us slowly into the beings of Love and Light that we truly are.
"Succumbed to Darkness", is an oil painting, which works as an allegory of a soul (the colours) being sucked to the darkness. This artwork is connected to the theme of black magic.
Untitled. Just found out about this... I only had cheap colored pencils, so this is what i could do with what i had in the time i had. Probably won't win, but better than nothing right? It's a witch painting stuff with her cat knocking some paint over and more stuff growing out of it... Something about it is wrong, but I'm not sure what it is... Is what it is, hopefully you like it.
