Best NY Steak Contest 2019 – Restaurant Rules:

  1. Restaurants can promote the contest as they wish, we encourage social media
  2. All votes from each round will be based on votes received on the WooBox voting platform only, link to this voting platform will be on NYBC Facebook posts promoting the competition. Voting link can also be found on https://www.nybeef.org/contests/monthly-contest
  3. After Top 10 Steaks are selected, restaurants will have 5 days to submit a Hi-Res photo of their winning steak (no substitutes)
  4. NYBC will put the 10 Steaks to Vote on Facebook/tagging in Top 10 restaurants. There will be one vote per person allowed.
  5. In the event of a tie for 4th place, NYBC will have a 12hr burger vote on June 28 to decide the final place.
  6. Each restaurant will be invited to participate in the Final Cookoff/Showdown at Onondaga Community College, Syracuse, NY (culinary school kitchen).  If a restaurant forfeits this opportunity there will not be an alternate burger/restaurant to take its place.
  7. Each restaurant will be responsible for bringing their own steak entree ingredients and service ware, menus etc. all other cooking equipment will be provided by OCC. 
  8. OCC has industry grade cooking equipment.
  9. Each restaurant will be allowed to bring up to (3) personnel including owner to the event, (cook, waitstaff, cook assistant) the contest will be a blind tasting.  Order of presentation will be drawn at OCC before competition.
  10. Criteria will be based on Taste.
  11. Student volunteers will be provided but restaurants are encouraged to lend a clean up hand in the kitchen please.
  12. Winner of the cookoff will be announced at the Cook-off and “officially” on Facebook July 9.
  13. NYBC will conduct a Facebook Live with the winning restaurant in July with plaque presentation.
  14. NYBC will provide press releases to the winning restaurant (and all Top 10/Final 4 winners throughout the contest).
