• Take control of your news feed

    on Facebook

    May 15, 2019

  • Since Facebook's political scandal in 2018, the social network has implemented significant changes to its algorithm. Currently, the Facebook algorithm controls the delivery and order of posts based on what it thinks it is relevant to a user. This means you may not always see posts from family, friends, or a page you like in your news feed. However, there are ways to take more control over your news feed. Refer to the examples below to see how you can customize your news feed on Facebook.

What to know before you start:

Steps may vary based on the device you are on and its operating system. For example, steps for a mobile device are different than a laptop/desktop.

Liking a page is different than following a page. When a user likes a page, they are automatically following the page by default. A user can choose to unfollow a page and still like the page, but they will no longer see posts from the Facebook page in their newsfeed. A user can also follow a page without liking it. 7. Select News Feed Preferences directly below that.

You can also favorite a friend or family member individually by going to his or her profile, If you would like to add them individually: go to the user's profile, click the blue person icon with a check mark to the right of the the message button, tap "following," then select "See First."
