Habitat for Humanity: Build an Impact Contest (“Contest”)

Official Rules

1.  ELIGIBILITY:  The Contest is open to all legal residents of the United States and the District of Columbia who are eighteen (18) years of age (or the age of majority in his/her jurisdiction of primary residence) at the time of entry and have a current consumer account (“Consumer Account”) at First National Bank of Omaha (“Sponsor”). Consumer Accounts are defined as Sponsor branded checking, savings, CD, IRA, credit card, mortgage, home equity loans and lines of credit, auto loans, personal loans and lines of credit, and credit card accounts. Employees of Sponsor, Habitat for Humanity, prize suppliers, and advertising and promotion agencies, and each of their respective parent, subsidiary and affiliated companies, shareholders, officers, directors, agents, representatives, and employees (collectively “Releasees”), and each of their immediate family members (spouse, and parents, children and siblings, and their respective spouses regardless where they live) and individuals living in the same households of the above, whether or not related, are not eligible to enter or win a prize. Each entrant by participating in the Contest agrees to be bound by these Official Rules and the decisions of Sponsor. The Contest is subject to all applicable federal, state, and local laws, rules and regulations.  Void where prohibited or restricted by law, rule or regulation.

2.  CONTEST PERIOD:  The Contest begins at 12:00 a.m. Central Time (“CT”) on April 18, 2016 and ends at 11:59:59 p.m. CT on June 24, 2016.

3.  HOW TO ENTER:  To enter, you must click on the Woobox link provided on Sponsor’s website or within the social media post regarding the Contest and provide the information requested, which includes answering the following two (2) essay questions:

· At First National Bank we believe that one of the core elements of a successful community is ensuring that all of its citizens have access to safe, affordable housing. Tell us why you’re passionate about this cause and how being a part of this experience will help you to have a greater impact on your community.

· Through the Global Village Trip experience you will gain a better understanding of the need for affordable housing both locally and globally. Our hope is that you will become an even greater advocate for affordable housing both locally and globally. How will you use your social influence (i.e. Social Media, Blogs, Events, etc.) to advocate housing both during and after the Global Village Trip experience?

Essays must be original, factually accurate, not in the public domain, and not infringe or violate any law or the legal or equitable right of any person or entity, nor contain material that infringes or violates any personal property rights of others or that constitutes defamation, invasion of privacy, an infringement of the intellectual property rights of any third person, or is otherwise unlawful. Each essay question will be capped at 1,000 characters. The period to enter the Contest begins as 12:00 a.m. CT on April 18, 2016 and ends at 11:59:59 p.m. CT on May 6, 2016.  Limit one (1) entry per person.  Proof of submitting an entry does not constitute proof of delivery or entry.

4.  JUDGING:  There will be two (2) rounds of judging. 

A.    First Round of Judging:  Between May 9, 2016 and May 20, 2016, all eligible entries will be judged by Sponsor based on the following criteria (each 1/4):

(1)  Ability to effectively communicate in writing;

(2)  Drive and passion for change and impact in the community as demonstrated by experience;

(3)  Willingness and capability to, capture, document, and share your experience; and

(4)  Commitment to the Global Village Trip.

The top twenty-five (25) entries with the highest average scores will move on to the second round.  Sponsor reserves the right to choose fewer than twenty-five (25) finalists if, in Sponsor’s sole discretion, an insufficient number of eligible and/or qualified entries are received.

B. Second Round of Judging:  Between May 23, 2016 and June 10, 2016, the finalists will participate in interviews with Sponsor, and will be judged by Sponsor based on the following criteria (each 1/5):

(1)  Ability to effectively communicate verbally;

(2)  Passion for sharing their stories and a good storyteller;

(3)  Energy and optimism for new experiences and opportunities;

(4)  Potential to have a social influence/following; and

(5)  Comprehension of and a commitment to the Global Village Trip.

The six (6) finalists that most closely align with the criteria will each win a trip to join the Habitat for Humanity Global Village Trip to Bulgaria. The six (6) finalists will be staying in Sofia and building in Krostinbrod. For additional information on the Global Village Trip, please see Section 14 below. Decisions of the judges are final and binding on all matters relating to the Contest.

5.  PRIZES:  Six (6) prizes will be awarded, each consisting of a trip for a winner to join the Habitat for Humanity Global Village Trip to Bulgaria from on or about September 23, 2016 to October 3, 2016.  Prize includes round-trip air transportation for one (1) person from a major U.S. gateway airport nearest the winner’s home, transportation to/from airport, and all lodging, food, and immunizations, incurred while on or in preparation for the trip. Participants are required to obtain a current passport. The Approximate Retail Value (“ARV”) for each prize is $4,000, with a total ARV for all prizes of $24,000. Winners are responsible for the payment of all federal, state, and local taxes on prizes.  No substitution, or transfer of prizes permitted except at the sole discretion of Sponsor, who reserves the right to substitute a prize (or portion thereof) with one of comparable or greater value, at its sole discretion.  Limit one (1) prize per person or household. 

6.  WINNER NOTIFICATION:  Potential winners will be notified by Sponsor approximately one (1) day after being selected. Winners may be required to complete and sign an Affidavit of Eligibility, Publicity and Liability Release, and IRS form W-9, which must be returned within five (5) via Federal Express (“FedEx”) via overnight courier.  Sponsor will furnish a prepaid FedEx overnight courier envelope to the winner.  If the prize notification is undeliverable, the winner does not reply to Sponsor within twenty-four (24) hours after receive of notification of winning a prize, winner fails to return the signed and notarized Affidavit within the specified time period, or in the event of noncompliance with these Official Rules, the prize will be forfeited and awarded to an alternate potential winner.  By entering the Contest, entrants grant Sponsor and its designees permission to use, reproduce, encode, store, copy, transmit, publish, post, broadcast, display, publicly perform, adapt, edit, exhibit and/or otherwise use or reuse without limitation entrants’ name, city and state; essays; and image and/or likeness (including any photographs and videos) for advertising, promotional and other purposes, worldwide and in perpetuity, in any and all forms of media, now known or hereafter devised (including and without limitation, the Internet) without additional compensation, except where prohibited by law.

7.  WINNER REQUIREMENTS:  Potential winners must already possess a current passport and will be responsible for obtaining requisite immunizations and a travel visa if necessary.  Potential winners will be expected to work a full day at the build site during each of the 10 work days. Potential winners must participate in various Habitat for Humanity Global Village Trip preparation events that are scheduled to take place at various times prior to the trip. Winners will also be expected to document and share their Habitat Global Village Trip experience in both written and verbal formats, and allow Sponsor full access to the content for promotional purposes.

8.  TRAVEL RESTRICTIONS:  Actual value of trip depends upon the city of departure, time of travel, any airfare fluctuations and or current market conditions at time of prize fulfillment, and any difference between the stated ARV and the actual value if any, will not be awarded.  Winner must be able to travel on dates specified by Sponsor or such portion of trip prize will be forfeited.  Sponsor reserves the right to change dates for trip. Trip is subject to air/hotel availability and other conditions and restrictions.  Airline/flight times to be selected by Sponsor at its sole discretion; one or more stopovers may be required. 

Once trip has been booked, no change, extension or substitution of trip dates is permitted except by Sponsor, in its sole discretion. Sponsor will not replace any lost or stolen tickets, travel vouchers or similar items once they are in winner’s possession.  Releasees shall not be responsible for any cancellations, delays, diversions, substitutions, or any acts or omissions whatsoever by the air carriers, hotels, or other transportation companies or any other persons providing any of these services and accommodations to passengers, including any results thereof, such as changes in services or accommodations necessitated by same. Prize conditions may be added or modified by companies providing those portions of the prize. The prize restrictions/conditions stated herein may be subject to additional restrictions/conditions, which may be stated in the affidavit and release and/or prize travel documents.  Winner must comply with all trip rules and procedures. Failure to do so may result in forfeiture of such portion(s) of prize. 

Sponsor reserves the right to remove or deny entry to winner who engages in a disruptive manner, or with intent to annoy, abuse, threaten, or harass any other person during the trip. If any portion of prize or any other event or activity is unable to take place as planned for any reason, including but not limited to, cancellation, scheduling conflicts, lockout, labor dispute, strike, inclement weather, or an event of force majeure, the remaining components of the prize will be awarded and Sponsor’s obligation to the winner will be fulfilled, and no other additional compensation or substitution will be provided for the trip.

9.  LIMITATION OF LIABILITY:  By participating in the Contest, entrants agree to release, indemnify and hold harmless Releasees, Facebook, Twitter, and Woobox, from and against any injuries, losses, damages, claims, actions and any liability of any kind resulting from or arising from participation in the Contest or acceptance, possession, use, misuse or non-use of the prizes that may be awarded.  This Contest and these Official Rules shall be interpreted in accordance with the laws of the State of Nebraska without regard to its principles of conflicts of law and jurisdiction and venue shall be solely within the State of Nebraska.  Releasees are not responsible for technical, computer, mechanical, printing, typographical, human or other errors relating to or in connection with the Contest, including, without limitation, errors which may occur in connection with the administration of the Contest, the processing of entries, the announcement of the prizes, the Official Rules, or in any Contest related advertising or materials; or for stolen, lost, late, misdirected, damaged, incomplete, inaccurate, undelivered, delayed or illegible entries or postage due entries or mail; or for electronic, computer, or telephonic malfunction or error, fail to enter into the processing system, or are processed, reported, or transmitted late or incorrectly or are lost for any reason including computer, telephone, paper transfer, or human or other error.  If in Sponsor’s opinion, there is any suspected or actual evidence of electronic or non-electronic tampering with any portion of the Contest, or if computer viruses, bugs, unauthorized intervention, fraud, or technical difficulties or failures compromise or corrupt or affect the administration, integrity, security, fairness, or proper conduct of the Contest, Sponsor at its sole discretion reserves the right to disqualify any individual who tampers with the entry process and/or void any entries submitted fraudulently, to modify or suspend the Contest, or to terminate the Contest and conduct a random drawing to award the prize using all eligible non-suspect entries received as of the termination date.  Winners are limited to one (1) prize from the Sponsor within any three hundred sixty-five day period.  As a condition of entering the Contest, entrants agree that: a) under no circumstances will entrants be permitted to obtain awards for, and hereby waive all rights to claim, punitive, incidental, consequential, or any other damages, other than for actual out-of-pocket expenses; b) all causes of action arising out of or connected with this Contest or the prize awarded, shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action; and c) any and all claims, judgments, and awards shall be limited to actual out-of-pocket costs incurred and in no event shall entrants be entitled to receive attorneys’ fees or other legal costs.  Sponsor reserves the right to modify prize award procedures.

10. PERSONAL INFORMATION: Information collected from entrants will be maintained by Sponsor in accordance with applicable federal and state consumer privacy laws, rules and regulations.  Sponsor will collect information from entrants solely for the purpose of the prize drawing and to notify winners. Sponsor will not share this information with any third party, except as necessary for the administration of the Contest.  Sponsor reserves the right to conduct a background check of any and all records of potential winner, including, without limitation, civil and criminal court records and police reports, and entry in the Contest constitutes entrant’s permission for Sponsor to conduct such background check, provided that, to the extent additional authorization is necessary under law, the potential winner shall authorize such check. Sponsor reserves the right (at its sole discretion) to disqualify a potential winner based on the results of the background check or failure to properly authorize such check.

Habitat for Humanity Bulgaria: A National Organization of Habitat for Humanity International operating in Bulgaria since 2001.

Families Served: More than 3,500 families have been supported through Habitat Bulgaria’s programs and generous supporters worldwide.

Global Village Program: Over 300 volunteers from more than 42 countries have been hosted through Habitat Bulgaria constructions program.

When is the trip? Trip will last from on or about September 22 through October 3, 2016.

How long? The trip to Bulgaria itself will last for 10 days. Participants will travel to Omaha, Nebraska on September 22 or 23, 2016 to attend a dinner and get to know the other participants.  All participants will fly out together from Omaha to Blugaria on September, 24, 2016. Participants are also required to participate in 3 days of GVT preparation put on by Habitat for Humanity.

What will the weather be like? Bulgaria lies in the south east of Europe and is home to an enviable Mediterranean climate which shifts more towards continental as you more toward the interior.

Language, Food, Amenities, etc. The official language of Bulgaria is Bulgarian. According to the 2001 census, 84.5% of the country’s population speak Bulgarian natively. Other languages include, Turkish, and Romani. Traditional food in Bulgaria is very similar to the food served in Greece and Turkey: tomato, cucumber and cheese salad, moussaka, filo pastries and stuffed vine leaves, etc. Many of the traditional dishes feature yogurt, cheese, spices and herbs.

What is a Global Village Trip? A Global Village Trip (“GVT”) is a volunteer Habitat for Humanity build in another country, designed to give concerned people the opportunity to contribute to Habitat’s work first-hand. Volunteers work abroad to build decent, affordable shelter alongside members of the local community. GVTs are coordinated by local Habitat for Humanity organizations in collaboration with the Habitat organization in the location of the GVT build. This GVT is being put together by Habitat for Humanity of Omaha, and sponsored by First National Bank of Omaha.  

What is the mission of Habitat for Humanity? What is the mission of Global Village? Habitat for Humanity International (“HFHI”) is a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing ministry. HFHI seeks to eliminate poverty housing and homelessness from the world, and to make decent shelter a matter of conscience and action. Global Village supports the mission of Habitat for Humanity by working in partnership; providing cross-cultural experiences, mobilizing volunteers, building sustainable relationships and generating resources, in the hope of creating long-term advocates for affordable housing.

Health and Safety: Habitat for Humanity provides medical insurance, disability insurance, death and dismemberment insurance, and security evacuation expense benefits.  Insurance coverages are summarized in the attached document. Additional insurance is available for purchase. A portion of the cost covers a travel medical insurance policy and assistance in case of crisis for trips outside the United States. All program costs include a minimal contingency fee for emergencies.

What will I be expected to do while on the trip? Participants will be expected to both participate in the Global Village Build as well as document their experience for First National Bank of Omaha. Participation in the Global Village Build will include various tasks associated with constructing a home. Documenting the experience will include blogging, participating in interviews, posting on social media, and taking photos.

Global Village Team Construction Activities:

·  Brick masonry, plastering interior and exterior walls;

·  Walls and roof insulation, implementation of granite and laminate flowing in the rooms;

·  Assisting the professional for fixing sanitary appliances, water installation, sewage and heat installation; and

· Interior and exterior finishes, painting the doors, windows, fences and maintain the construction site clean, tidy and safe!
