3DEC Day Model Contest - Official Rules & Terms

Contest Period 

The contest opens on November 4, 2026 and closes on December 3, 2026 at 11:59 PM CST. Images must be submitted by November 28, 2026, 11:59 PM. 

Eligibility 

This contest is open to geomechanical engineers, researchers, students, and professionals worldwide who use ITASCA Software products (FLAC3D, FLAC2D, IMAT, 3DEC, MPoint2D, MPoint3D, PFC Suite, PFC2D, MassFlow, XSite, UDEC, Griddle, or MINEDW). 

Entry Requirements 

• Participants may submit up to five (5) model images per person 
• Each entry requires the participant's first name, last name, and email address 
• All model images must be original work created by the entrant using Itasca Software products 
• Images must be submitted through the official contest portal - https://woobox.com/fns5od
• Submitted images should not contain watermarks, signatures, or identifying marks (except as generated by the software) 
• File format: JPEG, PNG, or TIFF 
• Entrant must be the creator of the model and own or have permission to submit the image 

Entrant Warranties and Representations 

By submitting an entry, each participant warrants and represents that: 

• The submitted model images are original work created by the entrant​ 
• The entrant is the sole and exclusive owner of all rights to the submitted images 
• The submitted images are free, clear, and unencumbered of any third-party claims 
• The entrant has obtained all necessary permissions, approvals, and clearances to submit the images, including but not limited to permissions from clients, employers, or project stakeholders 
• The submission does not contain any confidential, proprietary, or sensitive information that the entrant is not authorized to disclose 
• The submission does not infringe upon any copyright, trademark, trade secret, or other intellectual property rights of any third party 
• The reproduction, publication, or exhibition of the submitted images by Itasca Software will not violate any rights of any person or entity 

Confidentiality and Liability Disclaimer 

Entrants are solely responsible for ensuring that submitted images do not contain confidential, proprietary, or sensitive information related to any project, client, or organization. Itasca Software has no knowledge of the underlying work, projects, or context that any submitted model image represents and shall not be held liable for any confidentiality breaches, contractual violations, or unauthorized disclosures resulting from an entrant's submission. 

By entering this contest, participants agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Itasca Software, its parent companies, subsidiaries, affiliates, directors, officers, employees, volunteers, representatives, and agents from and against any and all claims, damages, losses, costs, expenses, and liabilities (including reasonable attorney's fees) arising from or related to: (1) any breach of confidentiality agreements or non-disclosure obligations; (2) any unauthorized disclosure of proprietary or sensitive information; (3) any infringement of intellectual property rights; (4) any violation of contractual obligations with third parties; or (5) any misrepresentation made by the entrant in connection with their submission.  

Judging Criteria 

Entries will be evaluated by Itasca Software based on: 

• Technical innovation and problem-solving approach 
• Visual quality and presentation 
• Complexity and application relevance

Winner Announcement 

Winners will be notified via email after December 3, 2026. Winners will be announced publicly on Itasca Software's LinkedIn page and other social media channels.  

Winner Consent and Publicity 

By entering, participants grant Itasca Software permission to feature winning model images on social media platforms. Winners may choose to be personally featured (by name) in social media posts or opt to have only their model image featured anonymously. Winners will be contacted to confirm their preference prior to publication.  

Rights and Usage 

By submitting an entry, participants grant Itasca Software a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to display, reproduce, publish, and distribute submitted images for promotional and marketing purposes related to this contest and future marketing materials. Participants waive any right to inspect or approve the finished product or any use to which the submitted images may be applied.  

General Terms 

• Itasca Software reserves the right to disqualify entries that do not meet the stated requirements or that Itasca Software reasonably believes may violate third-party rights or confidentiality obligations 
• Entries submitted after the deadline will not be accepted 
• Decisions made by Itasca Software regarding winner selection are final 
• Itasca Software is not responsible for technical issues, lost submissions, or other problems beyond its control 
• Participation constitutes acceptance of these official rules and all warranties, representations, and indemnification obligations contained herein
