Official Rules for The City of Barrie’s I Love Barrie contest

HOW TO ENTER
From February 12, 2021 to March 5, 2021, The City of Barrie is accepting entries for the I Love Barrie contest. Students who attend elementary school or who are homeschooled in the City of Barrie can submit artwork, an essay or a photo describing why they love Barrie.

SUBMISSIONS
Contest artwork, photos and essays can be submitted online at barrie.ca/MyBarrie. All entries must be received by 4 p.m. on Friday, March 5, 2021.

ELIGIBILITY
This contest is open to all elementary school aged children who attend an English or French public or private school in Barrie OR who reside in Barrie, are of school age and are home schooled.

Primary (Kindergarten to Grade 3) students are invited to submit a piece of artwork or a photo. Junior (Grades 4 to 6) students are invited to submit a piece of artwork or a photo. Intermediate (Grade 7 and 8) students are invited to submit a short story (up to 300 words). 

Entries must be submitted by an individual, not a class.

Those not meeting the requirements above will not be included for prize consideration.

City of Barrie employees and members of their immediate families can participate in the contest but are not eligible to receive prizes.

CONTEST JUDGING
All artwork and essay submissions will be reviewed by a member of Council and City of Barrie staff.

PRIZES:
Odds of winning will depend on number of entries received. 

Each of the three (3) main winners will receive:

One main winner will be chosen from each level: Primary, Junior, and Intermediate. 

The approximate total prize value is $200. All prizes above are subject to change and/or cancellation. Prizes will be awarded by Dec. 31, 2021. Prizes are non-transferable and cannot be redeemed for cash. 

LIMITATIONS OF LIABILITY
The City of Barrie is not responsible for late, lost, incomplete, irregular or misdirected contest entries or for any computer, online, telephone or technical malfunctions or human errors that may occur during the I Love Barrie contest. If for any reason, the redemption procedure is not capable of running as planned, including due to a computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention or technical failures of any sort, the City of Barrie may cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the contest and/or prizes. 

PRIVACY
Entry information collected by the City of Barrie for the purposes of this contest becomes the property of the City of Barrie for its sole use. Student information will not be shared for any purpose other than communication for the contest. Prize winners will have their information shared online and on social media (name, school name, grade level, artwork, photo, caption and/or essay) and may be photographed/videotaped for purposes of media coverage, City of Barrie promotions and/or Central Ontario Broadcasting (KOOL FM, Rock 95) promotions.  

By participating in this promotion, you acknowledge and agree that the City of Barrie may use your information in accordance with its Privacy policies. 

USE OF SUBMISSIONS
By participating in this promotion, you acknowledge and agree that the City of Barrie shall have the right to use any material included as part of a contest submission for use in connection with future promotional materials by the City of Barrie on its website, in print, or otherwise.
