Terms & conditions

This competition is open to any registered Australian travel agent that is subscribed to KARRYON. 

The competition will be live from 9am 22 January 2020 and open until 11.59pm 9 February 2020. 

Winner will be notified and emailed confirmation of prize details by San Francisco Travel Association and SFO International Airport c/o Gate 7 no later than Monday 17 February 2020.  

All entrants will be required to complete the San Francisco specialist badge on the California STAR platform (https://star.visitcalifornia.com/) as well as the United Airlines training platform (https://www.onlinetraveltraining.com/free-courses/providers/unitedaustralia?utm_source=Aviation&utm_medium=au&utm_campaign=track).

Judges decision is final. 

The competition is open to Australian residents over 18 years of age. 

Prize will include two (2) round trip economy tickets from Sydney (SYD) or Melbourne (MEL) to San Francisco (SFO) and ten (10) nights’ accommodation at a hotel in San Francisco, two (2) San Francisco CityPASSes and two (2) San Francisco Hop on Hop off bus passes.

The winner must contact Gate 7 at Alexandra@gate7.com.au to coordinate delivery of CityPASSes and Hop on Hop off bus passes upon arrival in San Francisco.

Flight reservations must be made at least 10 days prior to departure and are only eligible for United Airlines operated flights. Both tickets must be redeemed at the same time with exactly the same itinerary. Embargo periods apply during Australian school holidays and public holidays.

Any extra flights / travel additions outside of the prize will be at winner’s own expense.

 United Airlines tickets are valid for roundtrip transportation between the origin and destination, using the most direct routing. Stopovers, upgrades and flight/name changes are not permitted. Prize flights are promotional tickets and are not applicable for MileagePlus mileage accrual.

There will be 1 major prize-winner. The winner and their companion are responsible for obtaining their own visas for travel.

Prize is valid from 17 February 2020 departing Sydney Kingsford Smith Airport or Melbourne Tullamarine Airport to San Francisco International Airport and does not include any transfers to and from the airport.

No travel payments will be given to claim the prize.

Prize must be used by 31 January 2021Subject to availability and block out dates.

Government and airport taxes and charges must be paid by the winner and must be paid by credit card at time of booking.

By entering you agree to participate in a fun and entertaining learning game about United Airlines and San Francisco. 

You also agree by entering the competition that your name, company, picture and quote to be used in the announcement piece to the Australian and New Zealand travel industry. 

Entry into the promotion is deemed acceptance of these terms and conditions.

All references to time in this document are a reference to the local time in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia on the date stated.

The Promoter is not responsible for any lost, late or misdirected entries. Only one entry per person. Prizes are not exchangeable or redeemable for cash or other goods or services. A prize cannot be transferred to any other person, unless agreed to by the Promoter. It is a condition of accepting a prize that the winner accept the conditions of use of that prize. If any act, omission, event or circumstance occurs which is beyond the reasonable control of the Promoter and which prevents the Promoter from complying with these terms and conditions, the Promoter will not be liable for any failure to perform or delay in performing its obligations. The Promoter reserves the right (subject to any applicable law) to cancel, terminate or modify or suspend this promotion. The Promoter, its related bodies corporate and their respective officers, employees, contractors and agents (Promotion Parties) will not be liable for any losses, damages, expenses, costs or personal injuries arising out of this promotion, the promotion of this promotion or the use of any prize, including but not limited to any breach of these terms and conditions, contract or tort (including negligence) and any other common law, equitable or statutory remedy (Damages) whatsoever, including but not limited to direct, indirect and consequential Damages, including Damages that cannot reasonably be considered to arise naturally and in the ordinary course of things, even if those Damages were in the contemplation of the Promotion Parties.
a) for personal injury or death suffered or sustained in connection with the supply of goods or services which are supplied by the Promoter in the ordinary course of business. To remove doubt: third party goods or services, which other than in connection with this promotion, are in the normal course of business supplied by a third party unrelated to the Promotion Parties, are not supplied by the Promoter in the ordinary course of business; and the Promoter’s Conditions of Carriage and general booking conditions (and any exclusions contained therein) apply despite any statement to the contrary in these terms and conditions; or
b) to the extent it is not permissible at law to limit or exclude liability in the manner contemplated in that clause (in which case that liability is limited to the maximum extent allowable by law).

 The Promoter accepts no responsibility for any tax implications that may arise from accepting a prize. Independent financial advice should be sought. Receipt of a prize may have Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT) implications. To the extent that there is any FBT liability, this will be paid for by the employer of the recipient. The grossed-up value of a prize and any other Fringe Benefits the recipient receives during the course of the FBT year may be reported on the recipient's annual PAYG Payment Summary as required by taxation law.

Privacy
Under the Information Privacy Act 1998 (NSW), the Promoter must tell participants when it collects personal information about them and how it plans to use it. If a participant chooses to enter or take part in this Competition, the participant may be required to provide the Promoter with personal information such as the participant's name, email address, mobile phone number, state and travel agent status. The Promoter will collect and use the participant's' personal information in order to conduct the Competition and such personal information may be added to the databases of Gate 7, United Airlines, and Karryon. If a participant would prefer that the Promoter does not use the participant's details in the way outlined in the Terms and Conditions, the participant must contact the Promoter.
