• Enter the E TŪ WHĀNAU POSTER COMPETITION 2025 by designing a poster that shows what “Ko wai au? Who am I?” means to YOU. Whether it’s connection to your whānau and whakapapa, your whenua and the environment, your cultural identity, or your vibe - this is your chance to get creative and show the world what makes you, YOU.


    This competition is for everyone and there’s awesome prizes waiting to be won. Entry opens on Monday 11th August at noon and closes on Sunday 14th September at noon. There’s info you need to know in the Competition Info and Rules so make sure you read them before you start work on your poster.


    To enter the competition, go to the E Tū Whānau website. Competition updates will be posted on the E Tū Whānau Facebook page and winners will be announced on 26 September at noon.   • What’s important to know

    • Entrants must design an A4 or A3 poster reflecting the theme "Ko wai au? Who am I?".
    • Posters must be original and unpublished.
    • This competition is for everyone and there are three entry categories – 12 years of age & under, 13 to 18 years of age, and 19 years of age & over.
    • Posters must be saved in jpg or png format, max file size 40MB for entry via the online entry form on the E Tū Whānau website.
    • Entry opens Monday 11/8/2025 at noon and closes on Sunday 14/9/2025 at noon.
    • People’s Choice voting opens on Monday 15/9/2025 at noon via the Competition Gallery and closes on Friday 19/9/2025 at noon.
    • Competition updates will be posted on the E Tū Whānau Facebook page and all winners will be announced on Friday 26/9/2025 at noon.

    • 12 years of age & under: 1st place $500, 2nd place $300, 3rd place $200.
    • 13 to 18 years of age: 1st place $2000, 2nd place $1500, 3rd place $1000.

    • People’s Choice Award (most votes): $500.

    How to enter

    • Design an A4 or A3 poster that reflects the theme of “Ko wai au? Who am I?”.
    • Entries can be designed in portrait/vertical layout or landscape/horizontal layout.
    • Entrants may use various media to create their entry (eg: paint, pencil, pen, pastel, crayon, collage, photography, digital, mixed media). However, moving imagery and entries saved in video or audio file format are not eligible for entry.
    • To uphold the integrity of the competition, and in keeping with E Tū Whānau tikanga, the use of AI is not permitted. 
    • Save your poster in jpg or png format, preferably at 300dpi, maximum file size 40MB.
    • Submit your entry into the competition by completing the online entry form on the E Tū Whānau website.

    Eligibility To Enter

    • Entrants must be New Zealand residents.
    • Entrants under 18 years of age at the date of entry must provide parental/guardian consent and their contact details.
    • Individuals and groups can enter the competition, and entrants are permitted to participate in an unlimited number of entries, but all contributors must meet age category requirements.
    • Employees of Māori Radio, Māori Media Network, and the Ministry of Social Development are not permitted to enter the competition.

     

    Entry

    • Entrants must design an A4 or A3 sized poster that reflects the theme “Ko wai au? Who am I?”.
    • Entries must be original and unpublished.
    • Entrants must have authority to enter the entry into the competition.
    • Entries can be designed in portrait/vertical layout or landscape/horizontal layout.
    • Entrants may use various media to create their entry (eg: paint, pencil, pen, pastel, crayon, collage, photography, digital, mixed media). However, moving imagery and entries saved in video or audio file formats are not eligible for entry.
    • To uphold the integrity of the competition, and in keeping with E Tū Whānau tikanga, the use of AI is not permitted.

    • Entries should be submitted to the competition using the online entry form on the E Tū Website.
    • If necessary, entries may be accepted via email or messenger subject to the required entry form information being received by the competition organiser within the competition entry period. If the file size of the poster design is too big to email, a link must be provided to download the entry from either Dropbox or Google Drive.

     

    Approval Process

    • The competition organiser reserves the right to approve or not approve an entry.
    • Entries will be checked within 24 hours of being received and following approval will be uploaded to the competition gallery.
    • If an entry is not approved, the entrant will be notified via email as soon as possible.
    • The competition reserves the right to remove any entries from the competition.
    • An entry found to contain offensive, defamatory, malicious or plagiarised content may not be approved.
    • The offering of incentives for votes is not permitted and may result in an entry being disqualified.
    • If an entry is removed from the competition, the entrant will be notified as soon as possible.
    • All decisions by the competition organiser are final, and no correspondence will be entered into.


    Entry Categories & Prizes

    • The competition has three entry categories – 12 years & under, 13 to 18 years, and 19 years & over, and Flexi e-Gift Cards will be awarded as prizes to all winners for the stated value below.

    • Entrants shall retain ownership of their entry but must allow E Tū Whānau and Māori Media Network Ltd free license to use the entry in perpetuity.

     

    Judging

    • A panel of independent judges will select the winning entries.
    • Judges’ decisions are final, and no correspondence will be entered into.
    • Winners will be announced on Friday 26/9/2025 at noon via the E Tū Whānau Facebook page.

     

    Voting

    • Voters must be New Zealand residents.
    • Individuals, including entrants and entry participants, are permitted to vote once for any number of entries (including their own) during the voting period via the Competition Gallery.
    • Voting will be monitored, and the competition organiser reserves the right to remove any suspicious votes.
