• 2019 Summit Hut Banff Grant Voting
As a company that encourages safe and responsible exploration of the outdoors, Summit Hut feels a deep connection to local organizations that help preserve and enhance the local environment. Each year, Summit Hut hosts the Banff Centre Mountain Film Festival, a collection of inspirational mountain culture films with an environmental message. And for more than 10 years, Summit Hut has donated a portion of the proceeds from the festival to local, outdoor-related, non-profit organizations. In the past decade, we have helped support our community with more than $45,000 in donations to date through our Banff Grant program.
  • Summit Hut is proud to present this year’s five finalists, who will receive a total of nearly $5,000 to help further their organizations’ impact in our outdoor community.

Please vote for one of the following finalists for the 2019 Banff Grant. The two organizations receiving the most votes will win $2,000 each and the three runners-up will each receive a $250 Summit Hut gift card. Voting ends February 26, 2019.

  • Bicycle Inter-Community Art & Salvage
BICAS (Bicycle Inter-Community Art & Salvage) is a worker self-directed nonprofit 501(c)(3) bicycle center located just north of downtown Tucson. Relying largely on generous donations from our community, and responsible stewardship of those donations, BICAS is able to provide a variety of programs to learn how to fix a bicycle, earn a bicycle, create unique art from recycled materials, and provide programs specifically targeted towards youth. We believe in bicycles and other human-powered machines as essential vehicles for transportation justice, and we are always striving to make them more accessible to our community. We are an education center, not a traditional bike shop.

Members are also required to regularly re-certify both their medical qualifications and technical skills.
  • Arizona Land and Water Trust
Arizona Land and Water Trust protects Southern Arizona’s vanishing western landscapes, its farms and ranches, wildlife habitat, and the waters that sustain them. In addition to our role as land steward, we also support programs that carry out our purpose, including appropriate legislation, public education and outreach. We believe the preservation of Southern Arizona’s landscapes and ecosystems to be vital to the well-being of all residents, present and future.
  • Tucson Audubon Society
Founded in 1949, Tucson Audubon is southeast Arizona’s leading non-profit engaging people in the conservation of birds and their habitats. We involve people through recreational birding, extend their horizons through education activities, and engage them in conservation actions from planting trees and counting birds, to working with local, state, and national policy makers.
  • Arizona Trail Association
